j, have fun at the allotment! I'm trying not to be too envious. ;)

Girls, thanks for all the good wishes - I think it worked, the numeracy test was well simple - early primary school stuff. I did take the assessment supervisor aside and explain that I might possibly take longer than expected, but I finished well within the time limit. The numeracy tests I've been taking online to prepare have been horrendous, so I'm relieved. Waiting to hear about next stage interviews now.

retro, it's supposed to affect about 4% -6% of the population, isn't it? Sometimes I have really bad days, like when I estimated my DH was holding up 11 fingers! All part of my idiosyncratic 'charm' I suppose.

    I ended up wearing:

Grey velvet and sequin Kookai skirt (via eBay 99p)
Purple low cut 3/4 sleeve t-shirt (Dotty P)
Grey zigzag tights (they're actually Ethel Austin not Asda as I claimed yesterday)
Black Sunrise Belle Et Mimi heels (Barratts)
Wooden heart long necklace (gift from lovely friend)

Afterwards I went into Ethel Austin and scored four pairs of tights, and then into Dotty P's because there was a big obnoxious SALE sign in the window (and I am psychologically incapable of passing a sale.) Bought a dress, a top, and three skirts. Oh dear! At least they were all reduced. :o

Had a lovely morning shopping, needed some essentilas but did the charity shop hunt too. Came home with knee length black jersey dress from Evans for £5, and a black floaty mid calf skirt from DP for £5 in their sale.
Also got some coloured tights from Ethel austen, they had a sale on and had lots of bargains.
Even though my dress and skirt are black the fact that they are not trousers is a massive leap for me!

I also found some butterfly necklaces in Sue Ryder - they were new but are fab at only £3 each. Ill post pics in a bit.

Magpye - let us know how you get on with your interview, thinking of you. (Sry crossed post glad it went well)

Magype, hope it goes well for you today. A friend of mine has dyslexia and dyscalulia, and is about to start psychiatric nursing training, so it doesn't neccessarily rule out jobs where dispensing is a major part of the job, it just takes him a little longer. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get hold of him to find out what he normally does when he's had the literacy and numeracy tests, but I seem to recall from memory he's said before that they've allowed him slightly longer to do them, so I assume he must have mentioned it before hand.

Just read your update, fingers crossed for you - the outfit sounds great as well.

Ooh Chelsea Girl Alex, that brings a few memories back! I last remember Chelsea Girl from around 1985-ish.

Seems like there's quite a few of us from the north east here. Dieselhead, I'd just echo everything that's already been said here about the O2. Boots are a must in my view, as the last couple of times I've been, I've been plodging in beer. I'm normally found near the front (nearly lost my eyebrows to a flamethrower when we went to see Rammstein, but that's another story) and it's nearly awash!

I am ultimate slobby woman at the mo (although I am about to get changed to go out) and currently wearing:
    Manics Motorcycle Emptiness tshirt
fleecy cropped wide legged trousers aka the furry pants (OH's name for them)
scarf around hair, because it's such a state even I can't bear looking at it :o

Hope these aren't too big. Which looks best, the shoes or boots?

By the way I totally agree with Queen - I look way better than this in the mirror! The photos have squashed me down and I look dumpy so imagine me a lot slimmer. :D

As you were talking about heights the other day - I'm 5'4".

    Great news, Magpye!

No charity shops or jumbles for us today. I'm off on a pub crawl that kicks off at 4pm so's better get me a**e into gear in a minute and find an outfit that is both unsuitable and likely to cause a stir (why change the habits of a lifetime).

Judgejaq - Motorcycle Emptiness, now there's a track.

JTB - The maxi in Wallis's current window display in our high street at the moment is beautiful.

Daydreambeliever - Definately the ankle boots. Fab dress, great figure, honey!

Goan, I'm sure you'll look as fabulous as you always do. :)

Judgejaq, now I'm going to be singing that all day! Dieselhead, I would go with boots for a concert too. God I miss going to gigs. I remember my first gig at the Barrowlands, getting well and truly soaked because the big bloke in front of me refused to put his beer down while pogoing.

Daydream, lovely figure - certainly not looking dumpy! The boots look better to me.

  • Glad your interview went well Magpye.

I've taken a few photos to show my fashion journey since finding this thread.

This time last year I was 2 1/2 stone heavier and dressed like this -

After loosing weight I bought a fitted coat for winter -

And then I got some new boots and a dress -

I've recently bought this skirt in Primark which I absolutely love -

And I finally went out in my new mac (which looks a lot better in real life, honest) -

AND, when was in a clothes shop, one of the assistants said she really liked it and how unusual it was!

I'd just like to say a huge thank you for all your inspiration.
