I always feel embarrased in the butchers when they say that will be £6 for sausages!!!! I would love to have a butcher I could trust and build a relationship with.

Think i am like that a bit, any butchers i have used have been expensive and a bit snooty...

That's why i've stuck with £10 offer from Tesco...I can do without really fancy quality meat if it is cheaper and lasts me at least 8 days for that tenner...
  • I agree mallada they do vary a lot and i've found that some have become very 'trendy' and have hiked their prices. It's definitely worth finding one that's got good prices and plenty of knowledge. Even if it's out of the way you can just go once a month and stock up the freezer - worth the savings and the better quality.
  • I was in Sainsburys last week for a few bits and noticed the warburtons farmhouse has jumped 12p in a week! Same with asda and tesco too. I now hit asda in the morning and fill the freezer with all the reduced loaves they have!

So every time we go shopping in Sainsbury's we notice the staggering amount, and regularity, of their price hikes. Flour, cadbury's choc bars, butter, etc etc etc. It can't be just us that notices it.....

  • Bought a huge batch of lamb mince in the butcher yesterday (much cheaper than sainsburys) and I bulked it up with LOADS of veggies - things like carrot and courgettes, some squash etc. Now I've got a freezer load of spag sauce lined up, probably enough for the next year!

Two weeks ago I bought in Tesco Mamade to make some marmalade, it was £1.32, bought somemore today and price is now £1.47 - not much but still more than 10%. If anyone knows where I can get mamade cheaper it would be much appreciated!

You could always wait until January as that's when the Seville oranges are in season.
  • I used the £5 off a £30 spend voucher from the Mirroir for Lidl this week. Got loads of stuff including a fresh chicken and huge pack of steak mince. Managed to spend £30.35 then got a fiver off. Seem to spend a lot of energy these days shopping around for the best deals. I like the Tesco vouchers you get from the Clubcard but now they are only worth 3 times the value and you only get 1 point per £2 you spend on petrol dont feel its as good value as it was.

My boyfriend spends a lot of evenings going to his local Co-op for the really reduced items. He lives off them. We share offers too like one week he got crisps on BOGOF and I got 3 cup a soups for £2 and we swap stuff. We both have decent jobs too so god knows how anyone unemployed copes these days.

I often go to Sainsbury's as their economy brands are brill but they are going up to. Shortbread fingers that were 12p are 33p now, even when they had haircare with a third off it was cheaper to get it from Home & Bargain.
I have every possession I want. I have a lot of friends who have a lot more possessions. But in some cases I feel the possessions possess them, rather than the other way round

Gigervamp - I would love to make 'proper' marmalade but any time I have tried it it goes sugary, and tastes awful - unless I can get a fool proof recipe!
