.....Tesco Value 4p curry has gone up to 19p in our local shop!
    How can they justify that?

perhaps the price of additives, and salt have gone up :D

Value lines are actually sold at a loss are they not ? So the more people who buy value lines the prices will increase as the loss needs to be minimised ?

Last year the Morrisons equivalent went up from 5p to 26p

To be fair it did come back down in price again later and although it was still good value i stopped buying it out of principal.

I now buy a jar once in a while now that the price is low again but we don`t use it very much now.

I've just commented on another thread about this as for some reason this price seems to go up and down on a regular basis - MSE savers are obviously buying it in bulk and Tesco have maybe cottoned onto this?!!

Ive had similar thing with Tesco recently. I bought a load of tea light holders, just glass round ones at 25p each, for our wedding tables. Used to get a few every time I went shopping. Until one day they went up to 50p!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!

Didnt buy any more for a while, kept an eye out every visit and sure enough they are now back down to 25p!!! What was that all about???

The more people who buy the product, the higher the price gets. That's how tesco works. Their prices go up and down all the time, look again in a week or two and see if anything has changed.

Simultaneously went up fm 4p to 28p in ASDA! What annoyed me most though was that the label said it was a rollback price reduction from 56p to 28p!!!

So, what did they do - put it up at 56p between 23:00 and 01:00 one morning and then reduce it!!!

    Now that's cheeky!!!

Thats just one of the several items including Value items that have gone up 400% in my local store..I had to complain about the porridge oats a few months back when they did the same.. they went back down again after I called Head Office.

400% increases on non rare and non seasonal items is shocking.. how they have the gall to do this with their record profits etc I do not know. They think we wont notice as these things get slung in a piled up basket in a weekly shop but as I am single and only get a few carefully chosen items at a time (due to not really being able to afford food!!) if they put things up 1p i notice..:eek::eek:

Needless to say I called Head Office again this time.
