I have just recieved a parking eye ticket giving me til weds to pay 50 then goes upto 80/110 after, we are in the process of buying our first house and I really dont want this to affect it. If i dont pay.
I was picking up my step son from his mothers flat to bring him home.
Should I just ignore this or pay I'm panicking a bit due to the whole first mortgage and dealing with banks and things, I have to pull into the car park to get to her flat.
Hope someone can reassure me.
Xx
The only way it can affect your credit is:
1 - Parking Eye taking you to court (very very very unlikely)
2 - Parking Eye winning (again very very very unlikely)
3 - You refusing to pay what the judge orders you to pay.
But Parking Eye never do court because they know they don't have a leg to stand on, so they send out lovely letters saying bah bah we may take you to court, we may steal your children and put them to work in a sweatshop etc, the easiest way is to ignore their empty threats.
If it was a free car-park you entered to pick up your step son than the total damages to the landowner is zero.0 -
After getting this letter from PE today i searched google to see if it was a con i have only been driving a few months passed my test in nov so im kinda new to driving, my wife loves Bradford Foster Square Retail park and we go there 2 even 3 times a week and might i say she spends a lot of my money in the shops there as many others that have posted here do also. Letter states as with the E.G Letter on this site that my car was seen entering on 28 of dec at 13:51.04 and leaving at 17:56.04 thay state that my vehicle was in the location for longer than permitted ( this seems strange to me cos i class my parking from when i stop my car and exit my car that is parked not when entering) it was a very busy day in the retail park and we was driving around for the best part of 40-50 mins before we could even get a spot we got our disabled son out of the car and our new born baby and as always the wife hit the shops. so 2 weeks later i get this letter saying date issued 05/01/11 so thats 6 days late as its the 11/01/11 now lol demanding i pay £80 or if i pay before the 18/01/11 i get the reduced rate of £50 bargain lol £50 for 1 hour over stay, also there are 3 named drivers on my car so unless the pics they send in letter 2 when i get that one
shows a clear pic of the driver then they cant even prove it was me driving could have been anyone of the named drivers lol... main reason i registered here today is cos i read all the posts with intrest im shocked that they are allowed to operate in this way i know you guys say ignore ignore ignore and i will do, think im best off not using that car park in future.. just incase also is it still legal for private companys to clamp cars as i thought there was a law passed last year to stop them. i dont have a scanner so i cant add my letter but will post here when i get them and the out come if any

Ignore everything from Parking Spy. They can not clamp you for an unpaid invoice. Carry on using the car park that is your right if you are spending there.
Have no contact with Parking Spy but if you want to complain do it to the retailers on the site. Next time you go shopping there hand one to the manager of each shop you use!0 -
Thank you guys for your help my husband is going mad with me he thinks we should just pay it incase it comes back to bite us in the bum a yr down the line or so, I will just ignore it I have told him to read through here but he wont.

Dear Sirs,
Many thanks for the invoice you sent me which arrived on 11/01/11. May I first commend you on your timing, giving me 13 days to pay a reduced amount of £50 with a deadline of 18/01/11.
I’ll forgive you this minor oversight but not the following, which means I will not be paying you anything.- Whilst I am the registered owner of the car (*** ***) I was not the driver of the vehicle on 27th December 2010 between 05:31 and 06:11. I had better things to be getting on with, like sleeping. Whilst I am not fortunate enough to have photographic evidence of this, you will not be able to provide any evidence that I was the driver so you will have to admit defeat on this point.
"Whilst this is a new and untried regulation, members should be aware that sending a demand for payment to the vehicle keeper (as opposed to the driver) - without making it clear that the liability is with the driver – would fit within this regulation.”
"Members should therefore ensure that – for the time being – all correspondence with the vehicle keeper makes it clear that the contractual liability lies with the driver who parked inappropriately."- Under Civil Law, private citizens (i.e yourselves) cannot impose unfair penalties on other private citizens. This would be deemed an unfair penalty because it bears no relation to the actual loss suffered by the land-owner. You confirmed that the car left the Pizza Hut car park at 06:11 – more than 5 hours before the restaurant opened. You will have a hard job therefore, demonstrating how Pizza Hut, you or anyone else is at a financial loss from the 30 minutes my car was parked there (by someone other than me).
Regards,
Mike Newman0 -

I would love to know how Parking Eye will reply to this. On a point of law, they still have signage in car parks threatening potential victims with a 'penalty charge' of £80 . Tut tut Parking Eye, and to think you and you friends going crying when we call you nasty names.Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!0
