Mumof2, while I agree it is despicable to leave a child and just go out, it wouldnt have been illegal for you to leave her in her garden (not that I would have 3wanted to do that either. The legality of it only occurs if the child is left INSIDE the house alone (no idea why!)
    .
It is not illegal, but the parent/s may be liable if there is an accident.

s'true!! Best job in the world, jenny go for it. My year 11s told me I was sooo gay on Friday. I said yeah I know, years of practise. They said, no, seriously, how do you get that gay? I said...gay college!

(this isn't homophobic, gay has ceased to mean homosexual to teenagers.)

Please may I rant? It's the weekend so I should be OK but it's non flying related.

Anyhow, the little girl over the road often comes over to play with DD and her parents take it for granted that we'll look after / feed her etc (I've said to DH before they're using us). Today she came over to play, fine - we were due to go out by 4.30 so I said to her at 4 that she needed to go as we had to get the kids ready for their cousin's swimming party at a local leisure centre.

Off she went, only to come back a few minutes later to say no-one's at home. She has a 14 year old brother, a 16 and 17 year old sister and of course her mum (her dad works a lot as mobile mechanic). I asked if she knew where her mum had gone - no. I asked if she knew her mum's mobile number - no. DH looked up their phone number in the phone book and called and luckily enough the answering machine gave mum's mobile number. So he called and I heard her say 'oh, I'll come back - I'll be 15 mins'. This was at 4.05. Then she rang again saying the 14 year old would come back to look after her and he was on his way.

Time ticked on by, I got both the kids ready and no sign. DH rang again at 4.35 to be told 'he's coming.' No apology or anything from this woman. She said she'd chase him up. It then got to 5.00, the party had started at 4.45 and DH was needed to go in the water with the kids for the adult / child ratio needed for the party so if he wasn't there some kids couldn't swim.

DH rang again just past 5 and, now get this, the dreadful woman said 'just leave her at the back of the house, she'll be fine'. So she wanted us to abandon her 7 year old daughter in their back garden. DH said no way, it's illegal and he just wouldn't do it. Eventually DH went on to the party with the kids (he'd really wanted to take me as my depression is chronic at the moment) and the son turned up at 5.15 went 'sorry about that, thanks for looking after her' and left.

This stupid b**** had better come over later and apologise properly.

Am I the only one shocked by this? There's no way on earth I'd ever leave DD with people across the road and go out on a jolly, and the idea of leaving the kid in their back garden is despicable.

Sorry for rant and the very long post.

You are being used, hard as it may be next time the child comes over to play, tell the child you are just on your way out, and go and tell the mother it is not convient, taking the child home....bluddy parents...

  • MUMOF2-I used to live next door to my old school friend and her son used to climb on his slide first thing in the morning and say can I come to your house, well I used to feel sorry for him and lift him over. He would then stay for lunch and tea and I would take him home at 7pm when I was bathing DD.
One day he came over at 7am and at 11.30 she shouted over have you seen adam? She hadn't even missed him:eek:

    Hi all,

Mumof2 that's not on at all, the blinking cheek of the woman.

Since my last post i have

    40 mins on Wii fit
    Put tea on
Put 2nd load of washing on airer
    Set up wm for morning
    Cleaned Ds2's paintpots & brushes
    Put dry dishes away
    Ate tea
    Sorted rabbits out
    Washed up
    S & S Kitchen

I don't know where OH is, asleep i expect. He went to help someone with their boiler this morning, then he walked up Sugar Loaf with his children ( i stayed here with Ds2 as there's no way he would have got up there ) then he put 2 beds together so i'm guessing he's having a nap.

I just looked down at my hand and my nail varnish has completely gone from 1 finger  and the others are peeling off. I only put it on last night.:(

Mumof2 - totally agree with all thats been said - what a cheek the woman has but poor little girl - she must have a horrible life, you must put your foot down and only have the little girl over when it suits you and NEVER if you are due to go out,

Off to find my list and update it

Mumof2 when you do speak to her, I am assuming she will apologise asap I'd not forget to mention that in future if she needs to go out and her daughter is with you can she please collect her first. I wouldn't have taken her to the party, definately not, as people who do those sorts of things are also the type to point fingers if something goes wrong. The evil witch who used me as a free babysitter accused me of giving her child food poisoning!
One day I might be more organised...........
