O i nearly forgot i ordered our wedding rings today from hsamuels was cheeky and asked for discount for paying in full and in cash got 10% and we didn't get my engagement ring from them so its possible if you ask nicely.

Hi, I've just got engaged, live near Witney and am looking for somewhere to have my reception - ideally would be in a pub, for around 40 people, but able to have about another 20 join us afterwards. Not interested in disco or anything like afterwards, so ideally timetable as follows

11am registry office (or in venue if option)
12.30pm sit down meal for around 40 people
3pm other guests join us for drinks etc.

does this sound too loose and woolly? there will be a fair few kids around (we already have 2 ourselves!) and I was hoping that we could start early so people who have to leave to take kids home to bed wouldn't feel that they have missed out too much.

Also am looking for a dress, but no idea where to start. Ring will have to be platinum, as my engagement ring is, flowers and hair will be done by friends, so am hoping to really keep cost down as much as possible,

Any ideas?

Have a look at http://www.bellhotel-charlbury.com/things-to-do.html their function room is a small one and recently decorated. That's not the chairs they have in the room when we went though just plain wood ones. They had lighting in the floor and the staff were pleasant. They seemed really reasonable when we chatted a few months ago but they never got back to us when they were supposed to and we lost interest after seeing someone where else.

There are 3 nice bridal shops in Witney, mae bridal, proposals and blossoms. Would recommend mae bridal as owner is really helpful and friendly.

I'm looking for something that isn't too formal - obviously good value is important, but I'm not after shaving the pennies too hard. Had a look at a few websites, think I may have to go and chat to a few pub owners and see what's what. Too much to think about!
