Foundation for pale skinned redhead

My search for a light enough foundation ended about 3 weeks ago when I bought some No 7 Intelligent Balance foundation in Ivory. It is a mousse so gives great coverage but feels light, if my skin is dry I do have to put on quite a bit of moisturiser as it has a powdery finish.
I have the same problem with the skin on my jaw being darker than my neck and face, in fact my neck is really pale. If anything the foundation is slightly too light for my face, but it matches my neck, so I just warm it up on my face with blusher and bronzer. And it covers my acne scarring. For hours
It's only £11 and at the minute No7 is 3 for 2. I wish I had discovered this years ago. I'm so pleased with it, and would thoroughly recommend it. It gets 5/5 in the reviews

Oh wow, just applied the Revlon colour stay and its much more matte than the bobbi brown. Its thicker, and feels like I am wearing make up. But its paler than the bobbi brown and matches my skin very well by the looks of it. Shall see how it wears during the day now! Will let you know. But so far I am very pleased!
And the bobbi brown is double the price!
Does anyone know if the revlon one is new out? I just worried now that they will discontinue it, I really hope they dont!0 -

Hi Vikki, the revlon isn't new. They do have a new one out - name escapes me at the mo - but Colorstay has been around for ages. I wore it in the original formula about 10 years ago. I like the current formula - can't get a perfect match as the Ivory is a bit too pink on me and the next one up, Buff, is a bit too yellow..got to see the funny side!! But I can get away with the Buff and it really does give long wear.0 -

Ahr brilliant, thanks for letting me know. Pleased its been around for a long time, gives me confidence they wont discontinue it. I just hope they wont go bust now, lol.
Does it become shiny during the day, or cakey? I am so excited by finding it lol sounds stupid but I really hope its perfect, as it looks lovely right now!
I read its quite difficult to remove a night.
As it doesn't say 'oil free' I hope it wont cause me to have spots on my face ether. As I have been used to 'oil free' stuff.0 -

They've reformulated it at least once that I'm aware of, so let's hope they leave it alone now and keep it on the shelves forever!
I get shiny on my T-zone no matter what I use but this one holds up really well, I probably only have to blot after about 4 hours. With most other foundations it's usually about 2 hours after I applied it.
I find that if I put too much on, it can get a bit cakey - I've tried it with a foundation brush, my fingers and a damp sponge. I actually find that it goes a bit streaky if I use a brush so I prefer a damp sponge. The sponge seems to keep it a bit more sheer, but it still covers well. For me anyway.
Basically it stays on my face till I take it off, I usually have to blot it twice in a 12 hour day but it's still there, if you know what I'm saying. It can be tough to remove, what cleanser do you use?
Oh, always make sure you shake the bottle really well before you apply it, otherwise that seems to make it cakey.
ETA- I tried that Bobbi Brown you had too. Same problem as you. It looks absolutely gorgeous when I first put it on, even though I prefer a lot of coverage, I found it sheer, but it's a mess on me after an hour or so. The colour is a perfect match for my skin - first time i've ever found a perfect match, but it just doesn't hold up well.0 -
Thanks for the info on it, will have to remember to shake it before use, as I do tend to forget about that! I can't use any cleansers or toners as they break my out really badly. So I only use Johnsons face wipes, the oil balancing combo ones. Will see how hard it is to take off tonight!
Oh I have the one for oily/combination and in shade ivory.
What powder do you use to blot it?
I agree and have read a few people that said about it being streaky with a brush. It was a bit streaky when I applied it with my brush but kinda dragged it around a bit lol and it went alright.
It seems to be a perfect shade match and no need for concealer really with it! Is it photogenic make up?0 -
Taken from wikipedia
'As of June 2007, Revlon has reported 27 consistent quarterly losses, with only minor relief through selling off divisions and businesses. Today Revlon is but a fraction of the size it once was..'0 -
Had the Revlon colour stay foundation on since 7:30 this morning, it is now 5.25, I have a little bit of shiny but nothing compared to the bobbi brown. Revlon has stayed true to colour, stayed on all day and I am so impressed. Its better imho than Clinique, Clarins, maxfactor, loreal, no7, dior, lancome, elizabeth arden. All I have tried! I shall be putting bobbi brown on ebay!0

i am also very pale, lots of red tones in my hair and my skin doesnt have yellow tones but blue. i love clinique but they're all too dark for me, the best ive found is the palest shade of avon minerals foundation - i know people on here dont like avon but its the best for me and my skin and so easy to apply.'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0

Hi Vikki, sounds like you were happy with it yesterday, hope it's been as good today.
You asked about powder. I use (NOT an MSE product  ) Creme De La Mer loose Powder in Translucent. The texture of it is gorgeous, it's so light and fluffy and doesn't go on cakey or cling to my dry areas. The colour (its the lightest) is a teeny bit too dark for me so I mix it with a white powder by Ben Nye. The BN one is about £10 for a big pot, so mixing them together as I do, it means the La Mer one lasts for ages.
I just bought the Colorstay today in Ivory, I'm going to try mixing it with the Buff to see I can get a better colour match.0
