Thanks Vikki, I agree you are very pretty. You're very similar in colouring to me although you are quite a lot younger by the looks of it (I'm 36).

Funny the names they come up with - alabaster and champagne etc. I think the one for me would be called "ghost" or "semi skimmed".

I didn't know about the linen colour. Did you get a sample of that at the counter or not?

haha ahrr thanks:o I am 24 in April, I think the foundation I was wearing in that picture was the Clinique bare one, which is supposed to be very photogenic stuff. Yes very funny names, and mine would be chalk white or something haha

The Clarins linen 01 shade is not in Boots or Debenhams for sale or as a tester in my area, which is a shame. I tried the darker shade in store and liked it, but wanted it lighter so looked on the internet and I found out that they did do a lighter one. I then bought it from the Clarins online site. The actual constancy of it isnt as nice as Clinique's one but its a better match for colour, which is my main priority.
  • You have the same colouring as me! I agree with everyone here - not all girls have been tangoed thank you very much! there needs to be more light skin tonned ones.
I use a Never to busy....(lush's sister company, which has shut down now) but.... as with all my foundations i mix it with my own moisturiser, that way if my skin is looking good i can just have a very light one, or if my skin is looking awful i can put a bit more on.
Ive heard that that women off of girls aloud (think someone has posted a link here?) has made up her own brand of make up for light skin tones... and shes SUPER pale, so there might be hope for us all!! hehe.

Lush now do pots of what they call colour supplements, which can be mixed with moisturizer for sheer coverage or apparently used on their own... haven't tried it (yet), but presume it will be similar to the Be Never... stuff mentioned above by blackribbongirl.

I rarely wear foundation for the same reasons as yourself. I find it looks orange, mask like, sits in my fine lines and makes them look like wrinkles etc etc. the only one I have found to be any good for my skin is the YSL brush one but TBH I don't like the brush so squirt it out and use my fingers. The colour is a perfect match for my skin and I can get away with only using it where I need it as it doesn't look like I am wearing any base. It isn't cheap but for those days when I need it, it's worth it.

I have found the best company ever to do light foundations...

Bobbi Brown! I have been colour matched to Porcelain and you would never be able to tell I am wearing foundation its that good of a colour match. I am so pleased and would highly recommend.

Nixer, I just spent 5 hours trawling around every beauty counter looking for a foundation for my 15 yo daughter. We have very different skin - I'm a golden skin tone and she's got the porceline very fair tone that turns rosy in the wind, inherited from her Irish dad! We found nothing that looked natural, that was within her budget anyways. Someone on another thread recommended this sitehttp://www.everydayminerals.com/store/try-me-free/base/try-me-fair.html as you can order samples for very cheap and they have one that suits very fair skin tone. We haven't got round to doing it yet but might be worth it looking into. My older 17 yo daughter also with the porceline skin tone made the mistake of being 'hardselled' a foundation from *** counter that looked absolutely awful because she was not savvy enough to ask for a sample and then walk away and think about it. I had to go back with her and insist on an exchange because they made her up looking like a drag queen, with a clearly visible orange line on her neck! I'm no make-up expert and don't wear foundation myself but even I knew this was a no-no.
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!

Oooh yes! Bobbi browns Alabasta (sp!) is great- I'd love to be able to afford that! In the mean time theres Maybelline, the Satin finish and the new 24 hour liquid foundations are great.

Its a shame prescriptives aren't around anymore- I never got 'into' their products but my mum did- she said they made a foundation to match your skin tone and meant you would always get a correct shade!

Boots have just bought out a new pale foundation called "cool shell", still a bit too yellow for me but may suit someone out there.

You might look into some of the Japanese brands, they make foundations in very pale tones.
