PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. Please also avoid posting personally identifiable information, including links to your own online property listing which may reveal your address. Thank you for your understanding.

Even more so now, I don't believe you're in Fife (as stated in your profile). Your first sentence gives it away.

£1000 is still expensive considering they don't have an office. I do think that a physical office gives an agent a degree of credibility.....
The main thing I want from my estate agent is for them to put my house on Rightmove, dont want to pay them more to sell my house just so they have premises. They also advertise in the local paper.
I think its good they work from home and pass the savings onto customers, doesnt put me off. I'll give em a go when it comes to selling and see how it goes.Squish0 -

So you are assuming that everyone who wants to buy a house uses the internet or has constant access to the internet?? Believe me many buyers do not use the internet to search (older generation in particular)
I would want an agent who has ALL bases covered......not just a one trick pony!My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to sayIgnore......check!0 -

Your decision to start a new thread is not a 'collective' decision.
