Treasure-hunting at home challenge

Speaking of 'digging' and 'treasure-hunting in gardens' I found an old shabby bottle while digging my garden recently, having since washed it I can read it says on the side 'Regesan Formeloids'. I googled this and there was no hits, except one advertisement from the Singapore Times in 1916, which says they were pastilles that prevented sore throats and supposedly even consumption

Its a beautiful shaped bottle with lid and I am very happy to have not only found a piece of the past, and to imagine people in my garden in 1916, but to have potentially the only one around :) so to me this is real treasure!

What a great find. That's fascinating. Are you going to use it as an ornament, or fill it with something, or flog it on Ebay!

If you google "formeloids" (without Regesan), there's a tin on ebay (it's a completed item); looks like they were sold by Boots!

I'm just glad modern medicine has come on a bit since then! Formeloids don't sound the most appetising creation :D I think I'll just keep it as an ornament, it's almost heart-shaped and a nice little piece of the past. I just hope it cured whoever it was back in the day!
  • anyone treasure-hunting in their freezer tonight?

I found a couple of dumplings at the back of mine that'll go in tonight's dinner

I know there's a couple of ancient scones rattling around somewhere in my freezer. Must remember to have them with our coffee before we go shopping on Saturday, that way we won't be tempted to buy coffee out.

    Saving - about £4.

Tiny bit of 'treasure ' today - I had run out of washing up liquid but noticed that the bottle still seemed to have a tiny tiny bit left in. So I filled it with water and used about half of it to wash up with this morning and there's enough left to wash the tea things too

If you have Stardrops, that works for washing up liquid too.
  • That reminded me of the time I cleared up my cluttered cleaning cupboard and found four full bottles of washing up liquid and two half-used ones!
Not to mention the bottles of fabric conditioner that are so old they've gone solid:o

Found I have lots of seeds for veggies and salads left from last year. I've no idea how much this is going to save me over the season but growing salads is saving £££££'s anyway.

Am moving the house round to fit new Dgs in - we are a tad overcrowded as Dd brought half a house when she moved home to have baby - Sil is in the army and inbetween posts - Anyway I digress, have found loads of stuff, patterns I had lost, a set of watercolour paints and some fab papers to make birthday cards with. Everyday turns up something new!
