My OH found a multipack of 3 pairs of socks the other day in a drawer, unused, he'd obviously bought several packs on a bogof or something, put them away and forgotten them.

At the weekend I made 2 co-ordinating cushion covers, one large one small, the first from an old knitted fairisle wool jumper, and the second from an old faded check shirt, both of which I found my mum trying to throw out- I even re-used the buttons from the shirt as fastening! They look gorgeous in my red cream and navy colour scheme, and previously I would have probably bought something similar in a shop for £10ish each :D

This thread seems to bring home the fact that we have so much that we can't keep track of things.

Well done :money: and much nicer than the factory-produced stuff with no real character. Naughty Mum - you'll have to re-educate her:rotfl:

My hubby has a pack of ten socks he got for Christmas. The problem is that he NEVER throws anything out. The sock he wears are all holes and look like something the dog dragged in:eek: I slowly throw them away so he doesn't notice. I will put a new pair out for him tomorrow but I expect he'll complain:p

I realised this afternoon that I needed a birthday card for BIL this weekend. I usually make cards but had nothing suitable for a man. I said I would have to buy one on this occasion and then fell to thinking about the price of bought cards in Mr. S which is the only shop we will be visiting tomorrow, having just been to the Pound£and type shops this afternoon.

I thought a bit longer and remembered a card my DH had been sent for his retirement last year. I had liked it and saved it. It was handmade with a suitable topper for a man.

I got to work with the craft knife, sliced the topper off and stuck in onto a new card with a suitable sentiment and a very stylish card was born.

    Yay!, Well done :T:T:T
  • I found some Daddies sauce at the back of the cupboard which I don't like. I decided to put a tiny bit on my dinner and decided that actually I do like it after all - and it's less fatty than my usual mayo:j

It's still pretty much in date so that's my bit of treasure this week:D

Posted this earlier on another board, didnt know about this one, so here goes
I am in the middle of spring cleaning my airing cupboards and have a pile of single duvet covers with pillow cases, patterned, Hannah Montanna, Doctor who,( my youngest dd loves DW). We won't use them as my girls have double duvets on their beds now. They are all in excellent condition. My problem is do i take them to charity shop or freecycle, i have worked in charity shops so know that stuff can hang around for a while before being sold. What would you do??
    Thanks allxxx

EDIT. Since finding this board, i,m into thinking maybe i could do something with them, seems such a shame to get rid of them. thing is i,m not very crafty, anyone have any ideas for a simpleton lol

I have heard of some people making sweet 'pillow-case' dresses and tops - I'm sure someone around here has a link to a simple pattern, or you can look at a couple on youtube.
