Treasure-hunting at home challenge

DD had a rummage through my basket of fabric, trimmings etc & found enough bits to make her engagement announcements - plus she found the 'lost' pva glue.
A dig through my box of bargain stationery turned up 2 birthday cards & a sympathy card (all needed this week)
and a dig in the freezer has saved me cooking tonight
DD saved a bit of cash then:T and your freezer dig came up trumps too:D0 -
Yesterday I wanted to make our downstairs cloakroom look a little more homely, to put the finishing touch now that I've got my nice SC embroidered panel hand towel on the rail. Hubby had built a couple of small corner shelves and they looked a bit bare. I searched around and found a little floral china teapot that I don't use but love to look at. I also dug up a teeny china tray. So they now have pride of place on the shelf. The tray is now a soap-dish and holds a special lavender bar of soap.
I thought it might be a bit weird having china in there, but it looks all cottagey:j0 -
Like many of us, when my kids were small in the pre-digital camera days, we took far too many photographs and although many of them were duplicated many times over (how many 'new-born baby in the bath' pics did I really need to take as new-born baby wasn't actually doing very much of interest!!) I can't bring myself to lose any, although they are boxed away.
However for my DD's 25th birthday, I sorted out a cross-section of 160 pics to fill an album. I've hardly dinted my stash, but it caused great amusement at her birthday meal and since she's not at home now, nice for her to have.0 -
We needed a small shelf putting up, but before going to B&Q to buy one had a quick shifty in the shed - two nice brackets found, and an odd length of plank, which cut down and assembled has given us a lovely new shelf!
We need to look again at what's squirrelled away down there methinks...
Had a major declutter of the kitchen and took all the duplicates (serving spoons, storage tubs, mats etc) along to the local charity shop. Lots of students locally who might appreciate the extra kitchen bits.
MoamAlthough no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.

:T:T That's the spirit:D Let us know what else you find in your shed0 -
I cleaned through my recipe collection- removed duplicates that were in plastic pockets (the kind that go in a binder, sometimes called 'polly pockets')- found about 50- which can be used for filing financial things
. Also found some condensed milk last week (more cans that I needed) so made millionaires shortbread with one! Also found some old fashioned recipe leaflets with some nice ideas in them! Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Today I found some pretty towels I had forgotten about. They've had a nice wash and refresh. There's nothing wrong with them at all so I can't understand why I put them away

You've just reminded me I have a carrier bag full of new tea towels in my cupboard. My MIL bought dozens of them when they were selling them off at a local shop for a few pennys each years ago and I put them away as my towels were quite new. But I could certainly relegate a few of my oldest (And most stained, faded and manky) tea towels to floor cloths and replace with new sparkly ones!
I also have a couple of family birthdays next week and realised a have cards suitable for all of them as I bought them in last years sales.Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set

Not the same kind of treasures but treasure to me nonetheless: I was clearing out the huge cupboard/room under the stairs as it was well-overdue and mostly full of other people's abandoned crud and I found a huge box of what must have been my ex-flatmate's stored clothes. She moved out more than ten years ago so obviously doesn't need any of it any longer.
Instead of just chucking the whole box out I had a look in the first black bin-liner which came to hand. In there was the prettiest Monsoon summer dress so I decided to look at everything to decide what could go to the charity-shop and what could be made use of. I now have four bin-bags of stuff for the charity-shop and the following items to sell on ebay:
Two rather nice summer dresses
A Laura Ashley cotton skirt
Another rather sweet, mid-calf length skirt
A gold-coloured silk shirt
A pair of brand-new red court shoes
A pair of purple suede high-heeled boots
A pair of high-quality soft brown pixie boots
A pair of black suede court shoes
A pair of brand-new and unworn cordovan western-style boots
A black cashmere jacket
A red cashmere jacket
A blue snakeskin Kurt Geiger shoulder-bag.
If I only get a pound each for those items it will have been well-worth the effort and it's a lovely feeling to have had a tidy-up as well. And I need the money really quite badly0 -

Ooh. Some goodies in there. I hope they go well on Ebay for you. Great to give some to the CS too.0
