Treasure-hunting at home challenge

Have just gone into the garden to see if I could find some buried treasure and sure enough , I did. The tomato pots I was going to buy were sitting in the shed and the compost was in a bag in the greenhouse. Now wondering if I have any black bin liners that could become hanging basket liners.....so off to search I go
Have not found black ones but have found some green garden waste ones that would be perfect...We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -
My house is a full of stashed stuff which will be used 'oneday' but since I finished work it has started coming into its own. I think 95% of Christmas was done from the stash and now Dg is due I am finding lots more useful things. Mainly this week I have found lots of cross stitch fabric and charts that I was hoping to do one day and now I am doing them. Dh found a double socket yesterday in the shed which was timely as one in the kitchen is broken. Of course Dh used to be a house renovator so we have lots of practical stuff hidden away. Have any of you got nice tidy houses though? cos ours is clean but messy with all our treasure, would be easier ( I imagine) if we had more room - or would it just be messier???:)Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
:T Can you tally up what money you've saved on the pots and compost etc? Money-saving and waste-saving too.:DHave just gone into the garden to see if I could find some buried treasure and sure enough , I did. Perhaps we could put an idea of the money saved on some of our treasure-hunting adventures?0 -

95% of Christmas:eek: That's some treasure! Anyone who loves to cross-stitch (Me:D) knows how much these fabrics and charts cost. Maybe you could do a large percentage of 2010 Christmas with cross-stitch gifts0 -

I reckon my savings today were approx £14 .....will definitely think before I spend next timeWe don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -
Just thought - another saving I made today was to pull the bubble wrap from a used envelope [envelope had too many stickers on etc to be used itself] and then wrapped something I had to post with the bubble wrap and brown paper[from a roll I had] - not much saved [40p] but it all adds upWe don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0

Guilty as charged m'lud....I bought some two years ago, put them away and promptly forgot about them....
I'm forever putting things in 'a safe place' only to forget about them completely :doh:The amount of times I've been frantically turning out every suspected hidey-hole to find it again at the 11th hour, only to resort in buying a substitute gift/ card/ top instead...
Carefully cut down the centre back of the covers you want to keep, so you end up with--eg--Dr Who in the middle of a large piece of material. You will have to open the top &/or bottom seams too, but then make the back of the quilt cover from a plain sheet by hemming the raw edges & sewing up along the top & poppers along the bottom. I reckon it would fit a double quilt then ....have a pile of single duvet covers with pillow cases, patterned, Hannah Montanna, Doctor who,( my youngest dd loves DW). We won't use them as my girls have double duvets on their beds now. They are all in excellent condition....seems such a shame to get rid of them....
I am inspired so I hope you don't mind if I drop by again. I like finding new ways to use something, more so because it annoys me muvva that I'll 'put up' with something instead of going out & buying the what-have-you :rotfl:When the Offspring grew out of the exceptionally large pool that their father bought in a fit of pique SIZE=1]& the plastic liner refused to be mended with a bycycle repair kit any longer[/SIZE I salvaged the two longer poles, cut notches in one end & use those as props for my washing line :T
Actually, I've just thought about that programme that first brought us Lawrence-with-the-sleeves & Handy Andy..I loved that one! They took 'stuff' & transformed it into other 'stuff' & the people who brought the 'stuff' had two options of what their 'stuff' could be! I hunted high & low for esp & never did find universal colourisers for me paint
Someone posted THIS on another thread & I figure it fits on here too
--have a look if you get a mo.. Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.
