Treasure-hunting at home challenge

Am moving the house round to fit new Dgs in - we are a tad overcrowded as Dd brought half a house when she moved home to have baby - Sil is in the army and inbetween posts - Anyway I digress, have found loads of stuff, patterns I had lost, a set of watercolour paints and some fab papers to make birthday cards with. Everyday turns up something new!
I remember when we moved house. The only good part of the experience was the huge amount of stuff we rediscovered. Even moving the house round a bit, throws up goodies:beer:0 -
There's nothing like a good clear out for unearthing treasure. I have just sorted through my craft stash and found all sorts of things I had forgotten about. Have loads of stuff to make loads of cards which hopefully I will be able to sell. Have also found lots of inspiration too - priceless.

We all seem to be accumulating vast craft stashes. I think it's because we err on the side of extreme optimism when calculating how long each project will take:rotfl:0 -
its an in the garden, but managed to split some clumps of perennials so got some free plants!"The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0

I've been decluttering my front porch where I had overwintered last year's geraniums. I've planted up one of them along with some pansies grown from (free, on a mag) seeds and hey presto I have a stylish pot at the side of my front door. No spend - just used what I'd got, treasure indeed.

I'm here again. Today I was sitting at my newly designed crafting area formed by digging out (treasure find no. 1) an old knitting machine table and placing it at right angles with my computer desk in the spare bedroom, busily creating cards from my recently resurrected stash (treasure find no. 2). The thought struck me that there isn't a clock in that room. I remembered a tiny, pocket watch size one that we have but wasn't used as it had no battery in it.
I remarked to DH that we must get a battery for it when we go shopping. He remembered that he had bought a card of multisize batteries form £land and on investigation had just the right size for my clock (treasure find no. 3).
I love treasure hunting.

Today I was looking through some scrap material I had been given a couple of years ago. I realise that I had enough to make up a pattern for a summer top. Why didn't I notice this before?
Now I have to pluck up the courage to cut the pattern out. It is a simple one so hopefully even I can't do too much damage:D0 -
Ha ha me hearties! I've just spent an enjoyable few moments reading through all about "ye olde buried treasure!":D
So I'm just off to start a hunt myself and it will be like a search through an old curiosity shop in my house but I like the idea of discovering some long forgotten treasures either food, pressie or craftwise!
Have you managed to cut out your material yet budgeteer? best of luck
I must resolve to use the philosophy of see/look what I've got first instead of spending and then finding something that would've done just as well -it just takes a little forward thinking and imagination and a little treasure hunting!May you fill up the great clutterbucket of life and may all of your leaks be in cheese sauce
Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without:cool:0 -

I cut the pattern pieces out yesterday with the help of my DIL. Fingers crossed : )) I'd love to know what you find on your treasure-hunt. It seems so odd to me that I still turn up so many useful items when I have a look around my own home. I definitely would have gone and bought new in the past - and wasted so much. Imagination is a good idea isn't it? I have always wanted fabric panels on my towels - they look so nice. I have thought about it hundreds of times, yet never done anything about it! Yesterday I found a rather sad looking towel. I cut some scrap material and literally ironed on with bondaweb. I'm about to stitch it in place. The funny thing is, that although the towel wasn't brilliant, It's now looking completely different and I think Ill be rather proud to hang it in my bathroom again:j0
