Treasure-hunting at home challenge

Following on from my crochet blankets I am now left with tiny amounts of various colours, going to investigate making them into flowers and creating another blanket that way.
Some of my fine crochet cotton is going to be made into flowers to add to homemade greetings cards as embellishments. I sell these, so should be truly able to turn them into 'treasure'.
Saw recently in a Lake£and catalogue (don't usually let myself look in there, everything is so 'wantable' and way beyond my pocket) some divider mats for protecting pans during storage. This morning I remembered that I had saved some thin polystyrene sheets from packaging and have made myself four such mats for nothing.
Bella.
Well done Bella:T0 -

I was all set to go and buy myself some badly needed new towels, then came across some 'old' ones I'd put aside for rags. I chucked some in the washing machine on 95 degrees (went in yellowish and came out brilliant white!) and cut a frayed bath towel down to a hand towel and a couple of face cloths and trimmed them with bias binding in matching colours. Now I have more towels than I know what to do with, have saved a nice few pounds and got in a bit of practise with my under-used sewing machine!
I'm now on a mission to make-do-and-mend more and only spend as a last resort.
Well done:T:T I think I have some yellowish towels. I'll give them a hot wash and see what happens. I've been looking out for some embroidered panels to sew onto hand towels - but Hobby craft is too expensive:mad: I think I might get some rick rack (Or whatever it's called) as I can buy online very cheaply. I can posh up my towels and face cloths with that can't I? Thanks for the ideas - Keep 'em coming:A0 -
I forgot to mention, last week I took out an pretty velvety , panelled throw, which I used to lay across the bottom of our double bed. Now my colour scheme has changed and the throw was stuck in a drawer. When our daughter came to stay, I made up the single bed and rifled through the old bedding drawer. The velvety throw went longways over the single bed and it looks perfect If you look closely you can see a couple of tiny grease-stains from something, but since becoming MSE, I think that sort of thing adds to the charm:D0

Just a strip of flowery material sewn on the end of a towel looks very up-market, or if you can crochet, a crochet band.

I wanted a flower arrangement for one of the bedrooms and I managed to recylce some dried flowers from elsewhere in the house for this."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0

Had a clear out of my wardrobe and found a nice pair of leather shoes that I keep forgetting to wear. (As a size 3 EE, I have to buy on-line and grabbed about three pairs when they were in the sale last year) I've now got them on,and I've got that 'Ooh, new shoes' feeling all over again:rotfl:0

Ive was having a rummage and found 4 plastic Xmas table mats i bought from the poundshop ages ago for my niece and nephew. Didnt ever use them so have now rolled these up and am using them as boot shapers. They work great and much cheaper than the £20 ones I was going to buy!!:smileyhea0

Well done to you for being so innovative:T:T0 -
I seem to be a bit lonely on this thread for the last couple of days
Anyway, yesterday evening I dug up two 'posh pen' refills. It might not seem very exciting, but in the past I have thrown away posh pens because I've been too lazy to buy refills. So I bought some two years ago, put them away and promptly forgot about them.
Now, I am proud so say that I've actually used one!0
