Local Radio - Anyone bother

I enjoy commercial radio in N.I, mainly listening to U105 here in the Belfast area with Carolyn Stewart, Jerry Lang and David Johnson.
Used to be a Radio 1 listener then somehow switched to Radio 2 (think it was Steve Wright that did it) but find my self listening more now to local radio, to be honest its not bad at all nowadays.
Any opinions?

Haven't listened to Radio one since DLT used to be on a Saturday lunchtime - probably about 1990/91. Nearly always listen to local radio, but sometimes radio 2. Don't consider myself to be old (am under 40) just the quality of Radio 1 became fairly poor.0

My OH works in the radio business, there are a lot of changes and restructure going on in all NI stations, some IMO for the better and some no so.
Not really into U105 myself but that's for personal reasons (haha). Blast FM up in Belfast is very good for a community station and well worth a listen to, I do when Im up there.0 -
Radio Ulster is for old farts. It really irritates me.
I listen to Radio 2, which is also for old farts except that it doesn't irritate me, except from 7.00pm during the week, and most of Saturday and Sunday when it is totally awful and I have to switch it off as quick as I switch of R.Ulster.0 -
U105 Breakfast show is good. Good mix of music and chat.0

U105 is great fom Maurice Jay through to Frank Mitchell and then Carolyn Stewart. Good mixture of chat/crack music and competitions.
Used to love George Jones on Radio Ulster but feel since he went onto U105 he has got really selfcentered.(IMHO) He used to seem genuinely interested in others and local talent. Wish they would replace him with Ivan Martin then it would be great all day long.0 -
I listen to U105. I think its great. Frank Mitchell does bore me slightly as the phone in is a tad repetative but the music is good.“A house is made of walls and beams;a home is built with love and dreams.”2012 Challenge to buy most gifts and non essentials from money made online.:money:0

Kerrang is good (Midlands area only I think).
The only trouble with all Local radio them is the adverts. So when I'm not listening to a CD I flick between them and BBC radio stations until I find something good.0
