Yes, I can never understand why anyone would request anything in the Top 10 as it is played every hour or so anyway on those stations!! Fools and their money eh... :rotfl:

Could be worse, some stations asked their "listeners" to TXT in for competitions and request airplay for their fave songs....guess what....the presenters were told to "ignore" requests and simply stick to the playlist....worse still...the presenters who claim they've had hundreds of TXTs in response to a competition (txt in to win) and the show has only received 15 or 20 TXTs....

how about this one "live news on the hour"....well it was live when the last recorded segments were done at 5.30 pm....so keep your fingers crossed, nothing newsworthy happens after tea time...

what about a radio show where the presenter sounds so slick and polished....what they don't tell you is how that presenter spends the previous 6 days recording, re-recording and editing out all the mistakes...

what about a station that has its presenters "sounding live" and in the studio, in fact giving all the indications they are actually there (to satisfy OFCOM regs) and they are seen walking down the street in a village 8 miles from the station.

It all comes out in the wash, but unfortunately nowadaysall OFCOM are interested in is revenue....sad really, its not the stations that have killed local radio.

    Morning - Galway Bay FM
    Afternoon - 5 live
    Evening - itunes

I have an ever decreasing stacked hifi which now only has a pc (which has my itunes on it) and an internet radio attached to a very old amp.

Strange how times change. In a pile in the garage is the record player, tuner, cd player, dvd player, twin tape deck, etc.
  • Have to sheepishly admit I listen to cuddly Frank in the mornings (U105) his voice can be soothing sometimes - don't you think?
    No! Alright maybe not always.

Usually it's just a noise in the background anyway, helps keep you sane at work.

Completely turned off National radio, and Chris Evans, Chris Moyles, both would make me suicidal.

Sadly, their content and output has gone downhill...but the good news...they raise a shed load of money for charity, so it's not all bad.:j

Besides, even with a "not so hot" signal and content, they still manage to sound almost as slick as Seven FM...so what does that say about the "experts" of local radio?

How far outside Belfast are you guys picking up U105?

It annoys me that if I head out to Glengormley or Monkstown I lose it completely (this is in the car, not sure if the people that live in that area can receive it)

Thats when I switch back to Radio 2 and usually forget to retune.

I just wish car radios could pick up a wifi signal as strong and consistent as say Radio 1's FM signal, just imagine not having to listen to the local manufactured crap that we've been stuck with for years and being able to listen to any station broadcasting on the internet worldwide.........

I've at times taken to listening to internet stations on my phone in the car just to escape the local dross
