Hugo Duncan's voice is always very soothing to listen to, but boy does his musical taste suck!!! His songs are very repetitive too - if I hear 'Wasn't That a Party' (no idea who sings it) one more time I will scream. :rotfl: I tend to switch off about ten minutes into his show...Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

Beware of strange men claiming to be your uncle and telling you that they love you!0

If you are in the Ballymena area there is always Seven FM :rotfl:. Once described to me as being like your least cool uncle broadcasting his own eclectic record collection out of the garage. And who could argue with that?
Also has on the hour news which is creepy in its local-ness - if they are reporting that someone was mugged or something, instead of saying it was on the XXXX Road or whatever, they nearly tell you what house he was walking past at the time and who looked out the window and saw it. Hilarious. (not the mugging, obviously, just the reporting thereof).
Most of Seven FMs shows don't even come from Ballymena, which is ironic given that they were granted their licence by OFCOM on the basis that they would be a local station for local people...0 -
Has to be Citybeat for us, great mix of songs from last 40 years so something for me and DS!!Life's a box of beads - rainbow coloured and full of surprises!:D0

Seven FM ( also in the same group as Six FM, Five FM and the Q network since they took it over) took the brief about "commercial radio" and really followed it to the letter.
Nothing but commercials sometimes in groups of 6 or more at one go the amount of voice tracking that network does as well is unbelievable, as regards most of their shows being networked it proves the fact that their Ofcom application was a total fabrication when it came to localness.
Rumour is, the station in Ballymena (Seven FM) is doing so badly in raising advertising revenue (not surprising when most adverts are for businesses outside Ballymena, Coleraine and Cookstown to name a few) that its the rest of the group that's propping them up. There is even talk of them relinquishing the Ballymena licence.
They have allienated so many of the Ballymena public, by not doing what they promised to do on their application, rumour is they even have some of the local councilors speaking out against them.
They started off with a good format in Ballymena, using popular local presenters, which they proceeded to sack, now the shows eminate from oter studios in the network.
Of all the stations available to the Ballymena listener, this station is so far down the list its practically unheard.
Don't however if you are an advertiser be "taken in " by the grossly massaged RAJAR figures, they are the worst of nearly all the commercial stations, they lose listeners weekly but the group is happy to "massage" the groups figures to fool the listener and advertiser alike, that the station is being listened to.
Seven started as a cash cow, now that cow has dried up, just watch it'll soon be dropped by the media group and Ballymena will once again be left without local radio, unless theres someone there to pick up the pieces and convince a disappointed Ballymena listnership that they will provide what others promised but failed to deliver.I'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j
Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:0 -
Hate Cool Fm, can just about stand Citybeat, hate the fact we lose out on so many UK wide DAB stations - I bought myself a wifi radio for the house, now I either listen to RockradioNI (which gives local bands a lot of airplay time) which is internet only or my current favourite Planet Radio 107.3 out of Jacksonville Florida - local radio? only if I really have to............
oh yeah one of the reasons I hate Cool? PK REMIXES!!!! put a symbol and drum over any popular hit and call it a PK Remix.....grrrrNorn Iron Club Member #64

Six FM would be my local station, but I rarely tune in. I prefer to listen to Gerry Ryan on 2FM in the mornings then generally become a bit of a station floozy, listening to Cool FM or Citybeat or whichever random station tickles my fancy at that moment.0

Gerry Ryan is great, I listen to him when I can get the 2FM signal (inside buildings can be a faff)! Today FM is good too.Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

I also detest local DJs like Sonia Mac and Sarah Brett with their fake weirdo accents (where the hell are they from??????)
Sarah Brett is a mystery to me - all I got when I googled was that she normally works on Radio Foyle and the photo was nothing like I imagined her.
She claims to be a butcher's daughter from Donegal, yet as you say she has a weird English accent - why?
Can anyone enlighten me?0 -
