I have been outside most of the day cleaning out my shed and sorting out everything in there. I know where everything is and I have cleaned out all my pots and seed trays. Everything still deems to be growing well except for 1 pumpkin, looks like it has been nibbled.
I made the mint ice cream at the weekend, I just changed it a little, when the machine had just a few minutes left to run I chucked in some after eights! absolutly georgeous.
My biggest failures this year have been fruit trees. I got some from a shopping channel and all 4 are dead, they wont refund or replace the trees. I have 3 others which have fruited (not from the same place) im dissapointed I wont have fresh cherries, plums, apricots and peaches this year.DFW NERD NO.656 DEBT FREE 24TH NOVEMBER 2010 TOTAL DEBT AUGUST 2007 £39000MFiT T2 NO.56 WE OWN [STRIKE]25%[/STRIKE] 31.5% OF OUR HOUSE SO FAR!0 -
Sounds marvellous izzwizz. Once I've mastered growing the veg, I'll have to learn to cook it properly!
On another note, how tall do cucumbers get? No idea what variety they are, but I only staked them last weekend and they're already halfway up the 4" cane!
look at my pic on the page before, you will need bigger canes:rotfl:DFW NERD NO.656 DEBT FREE 24TH NOVEMBER 2010 TOTAL DEBT AUGUST 2007 £39000MFiT T2 NO.56 WE OWN [STRIKE]25%[/STRIKE] 31.5% OF OUR HOUSE SO FAR!0 -
Had my first flower on a courgette today and considering it has no male flowers yet and also has a 3 inch courgette on the bottom, I thought, sod it, I'm making this one into a stuffed courgette flower to try them.
Stuffed the flower with Garlic and Herb Philadelphia, made a simple batter and coated it and deep fried it for a few minutes. Can honestly say it was delicious, am munching away happily as I type. Definately a much tastier way to eat courgettes.0 -
I am so excited as I have just picked my first cucumber for a salad tonight. It is wonderful - I can't believe I have grown something that is so tasty and that I would normally pay about 70p for in a supermarket. Mind you the EU wouldn't approve as it is a very curved cuc.0

ewww.. I have greenfly on my salad leaves!!! Doesn't seem to be hurting at moment, and have sprayed with soapy water, just making my skin crawl.. no way I'm gonna be able to get rid of all the eggs!!! I'm gonna keep spraying and just carefully wash before eating, do you reckon this will be ok? anyone else got this problem? Been fine up till now, sooo annoying!!!0

Rinse under a fast cold tap before making sandwiches and then dont think about it while eating the sandwich..
No really dont..
And dont even think about opening the sandwich to re-inspect once you have taken a bite... just eat, its good for you..:D“Careful. We don't want to learn from this.”0 -

a good spicy coriander salad i learned when back packing the hills of Thailand:
Lots of coriander chopped up
Some tomatoes chopped
lots of green chillies finely chopped
mix together add some salt and pepper to suit
(obviously you can vary the amount of each to the salad to suit)0 -
