Well... spent the evening in the garden- away from the pollen! LOL
Have been harvesting pansy seeds from the pansies that have gone. Also picked out some pansies that decided to self seed into my path! They seem to like growing like mad!
I have just ordered a couple of raised beds to get the garden ready for the next spring..... £9.99 each so really good price. Before I know it I wont have any space left LOL
I can see a good few bits of fruit ripening- raspberries, blackcurrants, strawberries, gooseberries..... yummy! Problem is they taste so nice just from the plant I can't see them getting to the kitchen!
Planted some more spinach and the kale has germinated which is good. May take a look at some seeds for the spring.... bad very bad....Feb GC: £200 Spent: £190.790 -

What's happening to me - I gave up watching wimbledom to be in the garden . I can tell its warmer as my pak choi, lettuce and spinach have geminated with lush green sprouts in just 2 days.0

Anyone who's growing basil could maybe help me please? I'm growing basil in two terracotta pots on the windowsill of my conservatory. They germinated well, and were growing pretty ok although not triffids by any means. I pinched them out last week after someone (sorry, can't remember who
) said it was good for the plants to make them bushy but they have gone very pale green. They still look extremely healthy.
Is it best to grow them inside or outdoors (I think I read somewhere that they need to be indoors)? I wonder if they have had too much sunshine today as it was hugely hot in the conservatory when I got home.
Any suggestions/tips welcome thanks0 -
they said on Gardeners Question Time the other week that Basil likes heat and sun but not direct sunlight,so a south windowsill but behind a net curtain sort of thing. Also to water it with tepid water in the morning only as it doesnt like its "feet wet at night"!"The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0

Haven't popped in here for ages - sounds like everyone is doing brilliantly! Wow Lunar, your garlic is fantastic - my foliage is starting to droop on my garlic so will maybe investigate in a week or so! Exciting - I haven't actually been able to harvest anything yet and am waiting patiently (or not!).
I had a little investigative rummage in my potato sack earlier (2nd earlies), there is lots of lovely foliage, but no flowers - and I came up with the smallest marble sized potato! I hope that they grow a bit more than that! Will leave it a while and try again... Lovely purple flowers on my maincrop potatoes, but nothing on tomatoes or strawberries yet. Hope I haven't done anything wrong!
Have planted peas, radishes and runner beans today, so am still trying at least! Am looking forward to seeing them grow soon. Roughly how long do I need to leave the radishes - I aquired some seeds from my Dad so don't have the info from the packet, but I gather they don't need long...
Slightly off topic, but am still waiting for my fruit trees (got lemon, orange and apple coming). Am hoping they turn up this week as they took the money some time ago.
Happy gardening everyone!0 -

I'm actually terrified of removing side shoots as I still don't fully understand or can get my head around what part of the plant they are. I wouldn't dare strip it of any of its leaves or shoots  . On my tumbler tom I pulled off quite a few flowers upon reading somewhere that it does the plant good, but that came good as I seem to have a lot of flowers now!
Just been having a quick look around and have seen some peoples have grown 4 foot plus, maybe I am best getting some canes! What's thrown me as well is I read GD were suitable for hanging baskets :rotfl:
Just an observation, I have 7 varieties on tomatoes on the go and my GD is smaller than the rest and the foliage is really dense, much less open than the other varieties I have. Mummy to an amazing little girl0 -
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: thanks for that wssla00 - silly kimmee - I peeled it to see what was happening :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Hee hee..... think it's called wet or green garlic if it hasn't dried but supposedly tastes good!
All the stuff that is round the cloves turns into paper when it's dried but when it's wet you use the whole bulb!Feb GC: £200 Spent: £190.790 -

Now why didn't I realise that?!!! Blonde moment I think!! It smelt divine and I'm sure it will taste lovely chopped up in my salad tomorrow. Thanks again0
