I have just ordered a couple of raised beds to get the garden ready for the next spring..... £9.99 each so really good price. Before I know it I wont have any space left LOL

Where did you order your raised beds from - it seems a very good price?

Just an observation, I have 7 varieties on tomatoes on the go and my GD is smaller than the rest and the foliage is really dense, much less open than the other varieties I have.

The GD's are definitely dense and bushy but taller than my true tumbling toms. I'm off to get some bordeaux mixture from town today btw ta for the heads up on it. Can't be letting my toms die on me!
Ahhhh.... lemony fresh victory is mineee!!!

PS - want to start growing mint now so i can make my own ice cream! yum.

Once you start you will have so much you'll never use it all up! I neglected my mint plant within an inch of it's life and yet it still carries on going up....and up....had some mint growing in the yard of my old house, coming up from under the base of the house, there was loads of it. Taking cuttings never worked off it though.

If you have anything else of the cucurbit family nearby they cross pollinate like mad so they will be fertilised.

    I haven't :(

I'll just have to wait and see what happens - they are supposed to be prolific fruiters so I expect they'll come through thick and fast in a couple of weeks :)

MissKool gave me a heads up on this brilliant online seed shop which sell seed in small quantities

    More Veg

I've just placed an order with them for autumn planting and overwintering veg and any order over £6 has no p & p charge if you live in the UK.

I really like Real Seeds. I'm trying some of their home breeding vine tomatoes, though was late sowing, and hopefully will plant them this afternoon/evening. Will post photos if they survive... We have squirrels so I'm a bit worried they will attack them.

Just got their latest newsletter drop into my inbox this morning, you can read it here if you're interested.

They also have a useful page for seeds to sow now for both summer and autumn (and winter) harvesting too.

BTW I don't have any financial interest in Real Seeds, other than hoping that their great ethical business keeps going in these difficult financial times.
  • hi all, does anyone know if i can re-plant my strawbs now? I have a few fruits on it but it its 1st year so i wasnt expecting any. They are in pots at the moment and was looking to put them in the back garden as i have just moved a tree and the space is begging for my strawbs to be there! so, anyone know when/how/if i can replant?
