Place called "Kings seeds". I saw the ad in a mag for a free packet of seeds if you sent off for the catalogue, then fell for a load of stuff in the catalogue. Suckered :rotfl:0 -
Another fab day here.
Was out in the garden with my parents a while ago. We went into the greenhouse and I found 4 baby tomatoes! :j After all my worrying about pollinating too.
And then I noticed that the cucumbers are flowering (and have ben for a few days) and I have at least 6 baby cucumbers. :j
Made me ridiculously excited and happy.
Triffid pumpkins have now got 2" roots coming out of the bottom of the 6" pots and the leaves are now bigger than my hands.
So exciting when things start to happen and lovely to hear about people cropping.
lynzpower - so sorry about your plants, it's horrible when you lose them. Mummy to an amazing little girl0 -

Ooh, haven't heard of them before. Good marketing that... :rotfl:
Meant to say, I was in The Works today and they're selling packets of Johnson's seeds, 3 for £1. Got spring onions, carrots and tomatoes, but they had other veg and flower seeds too. Dates all seemed to be next year, so good buy. Mummy to an amazing little girl0 -

I hadn't heard of them either, but looks professional and most of the seeds were around £1 a packet, which wasn't too bad for the ones I wanted. Also had some unusual ones (like hyssop) that can be hard to find. Anyway, have given them a go.
Never heard of The Works, but that is an excellent deal. We seem to have enough tomato seeds to last a lifetime though :rotfl:0 -
Oooh now.... Izzwizz.... I like the sound of ordering garlic bulbs! I have used garden swap shop and they are good for swapping seeds
I went a wee bit mad this week and bought two established fruit bushes- 2 year bushes! Has fruit on and everything
I did a stupid thing this week.... was looking at my gooseberries thinking...hmm they aren't getting any bigger....anyway turns out I got the plant wrong and bought a redcurrant bush instead..... so no wonder they aren't getting any bigger! Oh well.... got a new REAL gooseberry bush instead and that DID have big gooseberries on it!
Also picked up two new tomato plants.... I had left it really late this year so they have all had to come as plants but got a purple cherry tomato one which looks good!
Hope you all have a good gardening day tomorrow!Feb GC: £200 Spent: £190.790 -

I laughed so much! lol Bit like me planting my veg way back in april and forgetting to label them. Took me a month to work out what each one was lol
Cheers for the info on the beans - I guess I best pick up some bigger canes ASAP then and get them switched in.0 -
LOL@ wsslaa00 too! I bought a gooseberry bush with gooseberries on it last weekend, but the hens pulled most of them off (they didn't eat them, just pulled one off at a time, spat it out, and tried the next one to see if it was any tastier!0

Ha! Most of my garden is like that! At least it makes it interesting!
Oh izz.... that's a shame about the hens! Sounds like me when I am eating chocolates from a box... bite it off... if I don't like it I put it back HAHAFeb GC: £200 Spent: £190.790 -
All is going well in garden, going to pot on some stuff today, and swap out plants on fence baskets as salad leaves are getting too hot in there.
Strawberries are never going to make it into kitchen, as they are getting eaten as picked.
Really starting to get some harvests now, lots of pea pods growing, ickle tomatoes, got a whole 5 french beans yesterday0 -
Does anyone know anything about pumpkins? I sowed a few hooligan seeds (they are very small pumpkins) just for fun and gave most of them away - I kept two and am rather foolishly growing them in (very big) pots.
They are growing well and I can see one of them has developed a nice female flower. Poking around on google I think I have to pollinate it with a male flower - but the male flowers are much less well developed than this female flower.
Does this mean it will die an old maid, unfertilised and alone
and more to the point - no little pumpkin for me
