If it's cut and come again you should get two or three cuttings out of it before it stops, but resow somewhere else so that you have a second lot for when you cut the first lot and then need some more the day after IYSWIM.....

I have just sewn some more in the greenhouse so they should jump up as usual. I am getting sick of salad though... mind you I have had it since february so no wonder!

Made HM mint ice cream today with some of the big bush of mint in the garden- delicious! Yum Yum! I only grow mint for tea so finding another use was a goodun!

spinach overload for me! We have been getting a good crop regrowing every week! Plus loads of coriander and lots of nice juicy lettuce leaves! Good thing is not a slug/snail in sight!

But my baby sunflowrs in the general parts of the garden have completely vanished :(

Still no flowers on my courgettes, although they're looking very healthy. Anything I can do to give them a prod?
And a tip for the salad growers - don't forget that you've added rocket to the mix and weed your freshly growing seeds by mistake. :o
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

My spinach is getting going now - do I cut the whole thing and let it grow again or just take the outer leaves?

How about salad leaves? Do I take the outer ones or the whole thing? I've already had some bolt before I even released they were ready to eat!

LOL @elsien :) sorry but don't know how to make your courgettes flower (you're not feeding them with a high Nitrogen feed?)
spinach - I've just cut off the biggest leaves on all the plants whenever needed and it seems to have been working OK
salad leaves - cut one plant at a time to about an inch above the soil and most will grow back
lynz - sorry to hear about your pattypans :(
soullessfire - mine are on 6 foot canes and have grown past the top, but letting them grow to 8 feet might be a problem when it comes to picking!

It has been another lovely day here (the weather in Northern Ireland seems better than it was in Cornwall!). Harvested some more red onions for the freezer that had bolted, cut the chives back to an inch above the ground and chopped most up for the freezer, had our first three baby courgettes (I cut them with the flowers and tried to serve them as stuffed flowers in a Summer broth, but the filling fell out and made a bit of a mess when cooking!!, still it tasted nice enough). Also had first handful of green beans and first pak choi and noticed the first baby green chilli is coming :) Great day.
