A professional and funded website is needed as a central point for being who have been conned.

Martin may be able to help out on that front. He woud certainly know how to set up a website. You could distill all your info and tips and direct people to sources of help.
Also is it Trading standards etc that have lists of reputable builders etc? I am sure more people should be directed to them.

I think Martin has enough on his plate!
Someone reading this will have a lot of experience of setting up public commercial websites. If they don't, I know a few people and will approach them.

Wow, what a rollercoaster of emotions this thread is! Been wading my way through it for a while and am up to date now. I'm so excited for you Mike, finally getting your house sorted, it is the least you deserve!!
I tend to be a bit cynical about people but the support you have received here has really touched me, you are all amazing. :T
I have to say that the fact that people can just run off with others money and no one will do anything absolutely astounds and infuriates me! This isn't just pennies either, it is massive amounts of money and it ruins peoples lives. Something needs to be done. If you guys do start something, a campaign or forum or whatever to bring attention to this then I will be happy to help out if I can.
Also, I'm extremely jealous of those of you that will get to drool over Nick Knowles, he is yummy!! :kisses3:

Good of you to say Hi!
Are you volunteering to kick things off?

x.......I know...I do tend to get carried away. I think I have a touch of OCD and should see my GP but I'm more afraid the diagnosis would show that I had CJD and I'd be packed off to the funny farm.(I think I'd be happy there!!) :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Pollyanna syndrome......wants the world to be perfect & everyone to be happy!
Thanks MatyMoo.. Won't really be the same without everyone there, we all worked just as hard to see this happen so I'm sad for all the others that want to be there but can't because of commitments in their own lives! What a party THAT would have been!
:A
Great to see we're looking towards support for other victims! :T
Mike it would be a shame to see this thread disappear, the amount of research you did yourself and the legal actions would be valuable to them all and it's highlighted a major flaw within the system and with the number of suggestions from posters of what could be tried to help them out of their situation shouldn't go to waste! They will all need support too & we should see that they get it!
BILLIE...You do rock, as does poosmate, niccatw, miggy, happy, spierso, niddy, buffy, DF, DG, merrywidow, saving mummy, 13 kent, pure dead dopey, skint dragon, MatyMoo, ICAWSM, butler 1882, hillcats, Susie T, Nuala Buala, Solventsoon, Oystercatcher, Cloud-Cuckoo-Land, Redlady-1, SaxySarah, SurbyBird,..........you're not going to make me name them all are you, I'll be here all day! you get the picture...tooo many names, trust me I have a list!:rotfl::T

I could quite easily set that up, and I'm not the sort of webmaster who gets scared by the threat of legal action for alleged slander/defamation when a rogue builder is named and shamed (although I'm sure you can already guess just how stubborn I can be when I believe I'm right)

If I had any clue how to then I would, but I have no experience of forums or website building! As SouthernBellE has mentioned an awful lot of knowledge and experience is in this thread. Maybe one starting point is compiling all that information and names of people willing to be involved who have that knowledge to guide those that it has happened to?
I imagine there will be lots of ideas bouncing around shortly anyway. It will be interesting to see what comes up!

"If your home environment isn't what you want, whether that means bricks and mortar, the people you share it with, affording it, or the neighbours, it has an insidious effect on your mind. Shelter you feel OK in is pretty important."
I absolutely agree with you. It is important to feel safe and relaxed in your home environment. Your home is so much more than just somewhere to live. It provides you with a base to be yourself, to invite friends and family, and a place to build memories that last a lifetime. It is the foundation (pun is sooo intended here lol) for living, where you socialise, relax, eat, express yourself and provides the setting for other aspects of your life...love, laugh, loss, friendships, family, etc etc. So yes, a shelter you feel ok in is fundamental to your overall emotional wellbeing.
Goodness I sound like a bloody oracle lol... far too deep for a sunday evening... I think I may have sunstroke or maybe it's just the shock of finally mowing the garden and it no longer resembling a field (well I had to mow it, I couldn't afford to buy a goat).
I have lived with depression for years and can understand what you mean by feeling it is finally lifting .. its like the sun breaking through the clouds when it finally happens and you actually feel like you are waking up and enjoying life again. I hope its a long hot summer for you... with everything thats happening in your life at the moment... you had better get ya sunhat on cos it looks like ya in for a heatwave:EasterBun

Before you pay any more off the debts, treat yourself to something nice just for yourself?
You rock, Billie!
Wow Mike thanks for the kind words, good to know that I have cheered someone's day.
Actually have had my eye on a "purple" lacy bra and pant set!!!!!!!!:o And just might treat myself........... something I am really not used to doing.
My brain is ticking SB and Mike and of course you will not be in the dark SB.
Also had a thought that some of the "mob" on here might actually be holding off coming down to you for the DIYSOS or reveal for fear of actually being identified in the big wide world. However, a private party for us all would be a different kettle of fish!?!?!?!?
Will be back soon - loves you all more than you will ever know.
Billie xx
Used actually an awful lot in that reply. Sorry:j I belong to Mike's Mob :j0 -
I agree Billie, people as nice as it is dont want to be shown in public.... you can imagine people flocking to mse to search for diaries or links to them.. a private party hmm yes :P its been a lovely day
