Another option is a photobucket account with public access. Mike could open this call himself what he likes, and just give us the link.

DH and I have just had a BBQ in the garden and shared a bottle of rioja.

Just seen this thread and I can relate to it because I am going through something similar. I've been conned out of over £80,000 due to a rogue builder in the Littlehampton area. I really want to name him but as usual honest people always have their hands tied.
Myself and 3 children are currently homeless due to him taking my entire roof off and then asking for more money to which I refused, so he left the job. We live in one small room kindly lent to us by a friend, we are unable to get any sort of help due to owning a property and can't afford to finish the house.
Last week I actually considered ending my life as things have become so bad, the only thing that is stopping me is the thought of leaving my family. The builder is still chasing me for more money even though he has been paid in full and left us with no plumbing, electrics, roof and floorboards.
How can these people keep doing this to us and always get away with it?

Oh dear, this all sounds a bit too familiar, is it the same builder as Mike? He does seem to make a habit of it in that locality :(

Things do sound very grim for you at the moment but I am so pleased that you realised that you could not leave your family to cope with this on their own.

I am sure more people will be along shortly to offer you support and some practical advice.

How funny, Mike you're going to have loads of visitors knocking on your door... perhaps you should keep a register, or have a guest book near the door!

All very exciting isn't it? :T

A slot for donations is there at the moment. 11p in it.

    Mike,

was going to ask you and all the other contributors to this thread whether or not it would be worthwhile you setting up a Facebook (*groan*) page dedicated to the revamp of your house; it's so you can post photos on there.

I am guessing some people will wish to remain anonymous like they do on MSE but hey it's just a thought.

Friday night and I'm sat here supping peppermint tea. Life doesn't get any better than this does it? I may have to turn to single malt scotch whisky later though. haha!:D

I don't really 'do' Facebook but it could be a good thing. What do other people think? At the moment this thread's a simple place to direct people to but I guess it will become dormant after the show goes out. I've tried saving it to disk but have only got a few pages. Anyone know how to save a local copy of a forum?

They keep doing it because they know they can get away with it!!!

Sorry, I wrote a long reply to you and the computer ate it! :o

Your situation sounds dire and you seem full of despair. If you've gained anything from this thread, I hope it's that no matter how bad things may look now, things can change and solutions can be found. It might not be solved the way you want but you will be given as much support and advice as possible along the way but to get the right advice and the support you need, please think about starting your own thread with details of your circumstances and where things stand with legal action etc. This thread is massive and pages get skipped, you'll be overlooked and lost amongst all the posts people are making which will only make you feel worse.

People will help where possible and support will be given for as long as need it but we'll need to look at what options you have and what ways things can be done to improve things. I wish I could promise you the same result as Mike but the truth is, I really don't think the e-mail angle will work a second time and is unlikely to springboard your home onto another Makeover show but I'm sure there will be plenty of suggestions and advice on ways and means to make things better than they are now. Don't lose hope and remember that the people in your life are far more important than property and possesions, there isn't a thing in this world I own that I wouldn't give up in a heartbeat if it meant I could trade it all in for just 1 more day with my Mum, I may be 43yrs old but I've never stop needing my mother! You are every bit as important to your kids, they need you but you also need help and support, admitting it and accepting it may be hard but never feel as though a problem is so big, life is not worth living. Life can get better and no-one is better off dead!!! ;)

Read the first dozen or so pages of this thread, it may give you ideas to help you but at the very least, you'll see how supportive messages and suggestions can give you the strength and the push you need when you feel at your lowest! PM if you like but please think about starting a thread for you, if you do and you need support, I promise I'll be there. Not qualified for solid or practical advice but thankfully, there are plenty of people here who are.....will provide all the virtual hugs and hobnobs you need along the way!;)

Take care and remember you're not alone and situations are never as hopeless as they sometimes seem.
