Well I was thinking just the same SB and what I thought was now we have contact with the telly people how about putting some suggestions to Christine to see if she can can take it higher to someone in the know. I am thinking along the lines of the number of people who have been conned by these rogue builders; for how much; the practicalities of helping them and a similar DIY SOS that could help. Maybe using local craftsmen such as Killerwot and Gaz who is so fantastic. Big kisses and hugs for your help.
Does that make any sense?!?:o:j I belong to Mike's Mob :j0 -
Hi BILLIE.......Finally get on line at the same time for the first time in ages!:j...missed ya but hope lifes still treating you kindly!
Feeling deflated despite the fantastic news.....no pleasing me is there! :rotfl:
Just knowing that SO many more are feeling as desperate as Mike did in the beginning makes me feel ....................?????
Too many people affected and not enough TV programmes to solve the problems caused to victims through dodgy builders!
Laws that give thieves more protection than their victims!
Even name and shame!..been following cowboy builders etc, only name I can remember was Larkin because his victim posted within this thread.
Not being allowed to name the builder leaving him free to rip people off over and over again......when does the law catch up with this 5hits!!
It's the law that's wrong, change should start there!

I know exactly what you mean and feel the same. Someone somewhere must be able to do something and okay I am going to try and get the ball rolling by talking to someone about it.
Sorry to hear that you are feeling ugh! You are always in my thoughts - you were there for me and it is much appreciated.
I am feeling good - pay day next week and for the first time in ages I am going to be able to pay something off our debts and I intend to keep plodding on.
Okay am off to work on my plan of action.
Take care and thinking of you and of course you Mike as well - still wishing I could be there.:(
Billie xx
And to all you lurkers thanks for coming on board xxxxx:j I belong to Mike's Mob :j0 -

Ahhh! Bless. x
I'm good honey, honestly. I'm SO chuffed for Mike and the boys, my main aim was to see the house get finished and him to finally get his dream home and new start, couldn't be happier for him but STILL feel that the builder has had it too easy and I don't think I'd forgive him for 2 years of absolute hell...........get 'im Mike!
What deflated my mood is knowing that other people are in the same predicament, so desperate they contemplate suicide?
Want to know I've/WE'VE helped them too, where can I/WE find the solutions they need?.....I'm/WE'RE looking!!!
Suddenly feeling a bigger battle looming, glad you're on board BILLIE, relieved you have ideas on where to start, I may be keen but I'm also clueless! :rotfl:
Think I'll give our wise friend poosmate a little nudge, this sounds just the sort of thing she'd enjoy and want to be a part of if she ever gets any spare time from her new job!
Keep me in the loop BILLIE....I don't like the dark!:o
PS... I haven't spoken to Christine or been invited because I wimped out and with held the e-mail.... will gatecrash the reveal regardless! :rotfl:PROUD MEMBER OF

(Yes, I admit it I was a lurker)...today I read on another thread about a site user who was getting help from DIY SoS, and followed the links only to discover that it was you
... This is bloody brilliant news. I am really pleased for you, and having read a few of your more recent (and incredibly amusing) posts I have to agree with others who say that you are a different, more positive, happy and active person now...
Congratulations, I hope this positive change continues for you and will pop in to get updates. It is so lovely when someone actually gets the help they deserve when they need it, and the kindness and generosity of complete strangers has really lifted my heart.
This is without a doubt the best thread on this site, probably the internet. I couldn't be more chuffed for you if I knew ya personally. Bestest best of luck for everything else ... and thank you for sharing your journey with us. You should maybe think of a career in writing, as you have a knack of making a bad situation seem amusing with your spin on the facts.
lots of luffs n huggles xx Daisy
What a gorgeous message! Thanks for all the nice comments. A couple of people in real life were saying I seemed much better even before I heard about SOS. After years of depression, I am starting to think it's lifting. There's no timescale on this stuff, it happens when it happens.
The One Show was the first time I felt someone whose opinion I respected (the BBC) agreed that I was in the right and that *****s thief and conman was wrong. They took me seriously. Maybe they were a bit shocked by something I've had to accept as normal. With the support from people here, acceptance by two of the most watched programmes on TV, and a solution (and then some) to my immediate domestic problem, I am feeling very fortunate and very hopeful.
If your home environment isn't what you want, whether that means bricks and mortar, the people you share it with, affording it, or the neighbours, it has an insidious effect on your mind. Shelter you feel OK in is pretty important.
You're welcome here, Daisy!

Few things in life can cheer me up as quickly as reading a message from Billie and knowing things are going better for her.
Before you pay any more off the debts, treat yourself to something nice just for yourself?
You rock, Billie!

SB You are not a wimp and you HAVE to be there! You have done so much to help Mike on his journey that it would not be the same without you. You can wear shades and a wig if you are worried about being recognised
Christine only wants to have an idea of numbers and is really nice, please email her:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
Wow, what a rollercoaster of emotions this thread is! Been wading my way through it for a while and am up to date now. I'm so excited for you Mike, finally getting your house sorted, it is the least you deserve!!
I tend to be a bit cynical about people but the support you have received here has really touched me, you are all amazing. :T
I have to say that the fact that people can just run off with others money and no one will do anything absolutely astounds and infuriates me! This isn't just pennies either, it is massive amounts of money and it ruins peoples lives. Something needs to be done. If you guys do start something, a campaign or forum or whatever to bring attention to this then I will be happy to help out if I can.
Also, I'm extremely jealous of those of you that will get to drool over Nick Knowles, he is yummy!! :kisses3:
