It all works because we get acclimatised to seeing her wobbly body until you think - she's not THAT bad really. Been out with worse.

I'm sure the blonde highlights, geometric cut, whitened teeth, evening make-up and baggy, age-appropriate clothes make them feel and look like they gave a damn about themselves. But for most, that's probably the first time for years they've been pampered and encouraged and praised, and told how pretty they are, and made to feel valued by the very family and friends who flock round for the unveiling.

Which must be an emotional high that's bound to make them look perky and confident and improve their posture and smile.

    Just this man's opinion...

Age is venerated on this thread. The younger ones respect and admire us enormously.

Oh thank heaven's you're still with us. Though that essay might have been too much.

Life changing decisions? Now you know we'll just go on and on and on until you tell us.

Evening all, feeling a bit better now.

Niccatw, unfortunately I'm nowhere near you, I'm slightly north of the middle. I just wish someone could make use of my garden as it would make a fab little vegetable garden.

SB, you sound just like me, comfort over style for me now and for almost the exact same reason. There comes a point when you realise you can't afford to buy the shoes and go out and if you can't afford to go out why do you need the shoes! Glad your DS had a good time on his trip and sorry your Council Tax banding didn't work out.

Regarding all these gadgets and gizmos, they fell by the wayside a long time ago (along with shoes and going out!). If I wanted to listen to music whist out and about I'd have to dig out my Sony Walkman! My mobile phone is antique, but I have got a widescreen tv! Oh and my pc has a fair good spec - it does what I need it to anyway.

Speirsro, glad you enjoyed the show last week. I know what you mean about doing nothing on Friday nights. I always look forward to the weekend and all day Friday am thinking, I should do this tonight and that tomorrow leaving Sunday free for whatever, but it never ends up like that. I'm glad I'm not the only one who procrastinates on a Friday night!

Saxy, the dark corner is a nice place to go sometimes, just don't stay in there too long.

Yay! Mike, I'm so glad you had a great time with your sons. Easter is not tooo far away and you've always got us for a boring Sunday. Good job about the dogs, they'll keep you busy. In answer to your question, I would much much (can't stress that enough) be lonely occasionally then unhappy all the time.

    Surby, I agree with that.

Mike, re: Loneliness and company. I have been single for some time now and I can honestly say I am happier than I've ever been in any relationship (after the honeymoon period has finished). The only time I miss someone being in my life is when something good happens (which is not very often). I take comfort from the fact that there are real people behind the usernames on this forum or on any other form of communication on't internet. I have many "friends" on the internet and I class them as genuine because no one has to continue to chat with me, there is no duty of care or morality, no signed contract as in marriage or work, we continue to communicate because we want to not because we have to. We are free to love each other, laugh with each other, chat and even cry with each other without the constraints of a physical relationship.
And remember Mike, the time you spend with your sons is quality time!

Surby, "I've searched high and low and can only find annoying men so have given up and resigned myself to the fact that before too long I'll start wearing a purple hat, have a houseful of cats and start collecting carrier bags like a mad old woman." - Not at the purple hat wearing stage yet and only have 1 cat and I can't help how many carrier bags I need to bring my shopping back in, I just can't use them up as fast as I get them!

Hi 13Kent and welcome to the gang. Pop in anytime, but be careful, this thread is really quite addictive!
Enough about purple hair, cats and carrier bags - it's far too close to home to be discussing publicly. Oh and yes I have mainly black clothes! Gok! Ew I can't stand that bloke! He could never pay me enough to inflict the poor public with my wobbly bits! I said BITS Mike!!!!

Saxy, welcome back from the dark corner.

Now I have caught up with everyone who's posted recently. Hope everyone else is having a fab Sunday night.

Sorry for the long post, as you all know by now, I don't do shorties! lol

Hmmm... well, I've never really looked at it like that but I can see that you might have a point.

Anyway, I have been banned from ever entering into any sort of reality or makeover show by my daughters so you'll never see me on screen with Gok.

I wish they'd let me do a house makeover show though...
