I've so many books to be read on my bookshelves, that I've pledged not to buy any more until I've read them!
Though I am allowed to do book-swaps on various book swap sites to help with the cravings!
If you're a bookie, it's a fab thread for discussing all things booky! But you will need a wee note-book to write down all the books you now want but can't buy.

Well, I have read almost all of mine now and I have weaned myself off buying 9 books at a time in Waterstones and have taken up raiding charity shops instead.
I will go over to the other thread and see what everyone else is reading.
Thank you!

Charity shops are my favourite places. For books. For clothes. For people watching

My book reading is a bit behind schedule as I've been nosing through DFW diaries though!Jan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

The charity shops in the town where I work are a bit 'upmarket' so not that many bargains to be had, which is a shame. I used to buy fabrics from charity shops, make them into soft furnishings and sell them on eBay. Unfortunately, the stock of nice fabric (including good bed linen) has all but dried up.
Which reminds me of the time that my daughter was in a charity shop and she saw a dress, the fabric of which was perfect for a sewing project that I was in the middle of. She took the dress to the till where the lady very loudly informed her that it was 'no way' going to fit her as it was too small!

She's far too polite to come back with a cutting remark, which is what I would have done!

Decided to go to the corner shop and walked out the door to see my nice male builder, who was coming to see me.
I'd asked him a few weeks ago to drop in and quote for the remaining work, when it seemed I might be closing in on the thieving lying one.
Had a nice chat but couldn't really progress it as I now am meant to be doing it all myself! I have to get the building inspector and the planning peeps in before anything can happen, and that costs hundreds. Then I have to do whatever needs to be done to the structural stuff. Then I can start on the cosmetic and second fix stuff.
So I'm no further ahead really. And the money I got back as backdated benefit will be going on taxing the car and other essentials.
It's a complete joke, isn't it?
I'm not going to get anywhere. Just treading water if I'm lucky.
Kinda pi55ed off, if you're wondering.0 -

I get the impression most of us here are Taurean?
Not me - I am Aquarius.
But you missed my birthday.
I had 4 cakes. Yes, 4.
We ate cake for 2 weeks.
I felt sick.
