I'm getting "Google Talk authentication failed" errors at the moment. A quick Google Search suggests this may also affect the ability to download Apps from the Market.

Try again in the morning if you're still having issues.

Lee, have you changed your googlemail account to a gmail one by any chance? I got similar Google talk problems after doing that.

    Posted from my Desire. :)

well after using my desire for a few days now I'm really impressed!
Has to be the best phone available right now, so easy to use and seems to do everything .. very quickly.

Love the weather on the home page too. seems to be pretty accurate so far :j

Hello, I rang up 191 today and was slightly confused by what I was told. I'm currently on an unlimited texts contract (subject to fair usage policy, which I accept).

I was told that if I send a "long" message, then I may be charged 15p for this. My question is this:

What constitutes as a long message? And is the HTC Desire affected by this?

For example, if I was to send a message over 160 characters in length, would this be classed as a "long" text message? Or would it simply be classed as two messages, and I wouldn't be charged?

I know the answer to this is probably simple, but what the customer service rep said made no sense at all :(

    Thanks!

Which network is this? T-mobile simply take 2 free texts off my allowance if I go over the 160 character limit.

This'd be Vodafone :) I got a reply on the Vodafone forum saying that some modern handsets convert long sms to mms, and this isn't within my text plan.

Still didn't cover whether or not the HTC Desire does this, but I presume that since yours doesn't on T-Mobile that I'll be alright.

    Cheers mate :)

    Hi there :D

Just to let you know it's not the handset it's the sms app you use. On my Magic the Stock sms app automatically converts any long sms to an MMS if it is the size of 3 sms (so 160 x 3).

So download an alternative SMS app such as "Chompsms" or "handcent" (both free from android market) and then your long messages will simply be sent as an SMS.
