Dear Max did your code take a long time to arrive? I didn't register, just posted my email as instructed but nothings happened, must be the volcano dust's clogged the internet!
Yes, I got one straight away. then I got greedy and tried a different email address for a 50% code. All I got was a snotty message saying one entry per IP address per day. :rotfl:0 -

I finally gave in to temptation too .... went for the T-Mobile 24 month @ £30, 900 mins, 500 txts, "umlimited" web with 6 months half price and a free unbranded and unlocked Desire from mobiles.co.uk.
Probably no the best deal around but works out at 26.25 per month - I had been paying Vodafone £25 per month for way way less mins, txts with a Viewty and crappy upgrade options so it'll do me nicely. ........ Monday ........ but I wants it now precious ......0 -
Hmmm
I'm stuck between the Desire and iphone and really not sure which one to go for. Also does anyone know a cheap place to get either sim free,?don't want to go to anyone unrealiable.

Technically the Desire sets the iphone alight, p**ses all over it then leaves it wimpering in the corner!

I'm fed up with Virgin.
As an existing VirginMedia customer, I called them on Thursday to see if it would be advantageous for me to get my Desire through them.
Yes, said the lady, for £30 a month I would get a free phone and free calls to and from my Virgin landline. Are you sure, I asked, as I couldn't see this mentioned on the website. Pause while she went away to check. She came back and said that actually no, what they do is to send me a second sim card, a PAYG, that I could put into a second phone and get free calls to my home phone. It seemed a bit bizarre to do it that way, but I said I would think about it.
Second call, an hour later, just to clarify. This time I was told categorically that ALL calls between ALL Virgin phones, whether mobile or landline, would be free. Are you sure? Yes, absolutely certain. Plus 800 mins, plus unlimited internet, plus unlimited texts. For £30 a month I thought this was OK, and did the deal.
Still slightly anxious that this deal was correct, I called them back later again, spoke to a 3rd lady. Went through my deal again. She assured me that all calls between Virgin mobile and landline would be free.
Phone arrived the next day (yesterday). Great delivery service, and fantastic phone. Best phone I've ever seen or used by a mile. No complaints there.
This morning, I registered online and checked my account. Lo and behold, my 800 mins had shrunk by the 10 minutes I'd spent on the phone to my home landline. It was also showing internet allowance as 1GB and not unlimited. It was also showing me as having 3000 texts and not 'unlimited'. (As it happens I won't get near the text limit, but it isn't what I was told).
So I just called Virgin again and am told that no, I must have been advised wrongly, and calls to Virgin landlines are chargeable.
I'm so annoyed with them. Fortunately they have a 30 day return policy, so I will return it and am back to square one regarding getting a Desire. Superb phone and highly recommended, but I want to do business with an ethical supplier, or at least one who enploys people who have their facts right.
Has anyone had a similar experience with Virgn? Or managed to wring a better deal out of them?"I don't mind if a chap talks rot. But I really must draw the line at utter rot." - PG Wodehouse0 -
I'm seriously considering buying the Desire from Phones4u.
The deal is on Orange 18month @ £25
300mins
3000 texts
500mb internet useage
Minutes and texts is more than enough for me, but i really want to use it for the internet and i have no idea whether 500mb is enough or not. Does anyone else have a clue whether 500mb isn't enough for this type of phone?0 -

I've just gone for this deal, cheapest I could find on 18 month anywhere. Ordered about 40mins ago and e-mail saying all was ok and would be dispatched shortly around five minutes ago.
From a vodafone advert I saw, it said something like 500mb was the equivalent of viewing 6 minutes of youtube, sending or recieving 100 mails and viewing x amount of webpages per day. I can't remember the exact amount but I remember it being more than enough for me!0 -

Mobilephones direct do it on T payg (which is unlocked unbranded) for £352.98 delivered (http://www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk/Brands/HTC/b509/n447/p31043.aspx?affiliate=affiliate_future&aff_id=23153) but they're out of stock until next week.
Three are going to be doing it, again unlocked unbranded from the 20th (http://blog.three.co.uk/2010/04/01/htc-desire-launch-date-price/) at £349.99 on payg.
That's about as cheap as you're going to get a brand new model for, for the next few months.
If you wait for the new iPhone, (the iPhone HD, I now seeing it called) the Desire will have come down a little which might make the choice simpler !0
