You do know that T-Mobile and Orange have just merged? There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.

mortgage payer for 8 years, never missed a payment on anything ever, no debt at all other than mortgage, salary 40k a year and they wont give me a 30 quid a month phone contract!!! mental!!!
I think you should ask vodafone who they credit checked you with.
experian or equifax. Then sign up for the 1 month free and get it fixed.
Since you dont have anything affecting your credit rating, it could be something simple as not being registered on electoral roll.
It would be worth it in the long run0 -
Given you're paying a mortgage and have been for 8 years with no other debt, your credit rating should be pretty decent. The "no other credit" would be an issue, but not a massive one that'd prevent you getting a mobile contract! The electoral roll is a possible issue.
Christ, even my girlfriend who only has a HP agreement on her car and is only 19 (so little in terms of 'history') got a phone contract no problem with Orange.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

i have been on experian and checked my rating, no problems showing, issue may have been i moved house in december and my 2 addresses were not connected. i have done this now.
thing is i rang t mobile back and they wont let me place another order for 10 days as they wont do another credit check til then.
is it worth me trying to go through a 3rd party such as the car phone warehouse to see if my order will go through that way? perhaps they will check credit differently.?0 -
OK I finally did it, managed to get the phone at slightly reduced cost with T-Mobile, roll on next week!!!0

Have just got the Desire on a new line with T-Mobile. I went for the £35.00 plan which included 12 min and 500 texts plus internet and free booster. I spoke to a very helpful person in CS who agreed to change me over to the Flext 35 (24 month plan). £225.00 of allowance up to 1125 of calls to landlines which is more then enough for me or up to 2250 texts plus calls to 08 numbers, international calls and free voice mail and still kept the 3 GB data bundle. May have lost some call allowance but this suits me a lot better.0

I had a similar issue with Vodafone once and couldn't understand it. Good job I was persistent as I managed to get to the bottom of the problem after speaking to various staff at Vodafone. I had had a previous contract with them, paid via direct debit.
When the contract ended and I moved to a new network, they messed up my final DD payment, which left me £1.xx in debit with them. Because of this debit, I kept failing their credit checks. Took a lot of work to find this out from Vodafone, and when I finally did I paid the outstanding amount, and they were happy to give me a new contract.
I thought this must be a one-off, but got my husband to check his as well, just in case. Turns out similar thing with him too! Think he had less than £1 outstanding - again, he'd paid via direct debit so entirely Vodafone's fault - so he paid this off in case he ever wanted to get a contract with them again in the future.0
