I don't know if it's just me but T-mobile seem to be getting stricter on their upgrade offers. Just spoke to retentions and best offer for HTC Desire was 30pm discounted to £26pm, 24 month contract, handset free, unlimited texts/unlimited internet/900mins.
Tried to get 18 month contract but wanted to charge for handset and wouldn't go below £30pm. Told me they've been told they can't go below £30pm except if discounting as above. Doesn't seem a good deal compared to others, particluarly as I was paying £40pm, so I've took my PAC code and I'll see what other networks offer.0 -

The part of the website for existing customers is still not working, so I can't get a deal online.
It goes on to say that existing customers can get an equivalent 18 month deal for £30 a month.
The Virgin website finally appears to be working, I put my account number in but, no sign of the Desire. So none the wiser for that experience!0 -

See my post #299 luckily the £10 deal was still on the website or I wouldn't have got it!0 -

My girlfriends contract runs out on 18th April and she called up and got a similar response. They wanted £35 p/m on 24 month contract to get the phone free.
What a bloody joke. Said we were lying when I told them we could get it from MPD for £25 a month with free phone on 18mth.
Incidentally MartinC, when my g/f called she got through to the Newcastle retentions centre and they said that she couldn't have her pac code until two days before her contract ends or else they would have to charge.
This sounds like bulls**t to me as normally I always request mine in the last 30 days of the contract and get it fine. Can you advise which call centre you spoke to, how long you have left on your contract and if you got any of the above lies?0 -

Don't know which centre I spoke to. I'm in last month of contract, they told me that it takes 48hrs to process PAC code once you use it. They gave me mine whilst I was on the phone.
Also didn't believe me when I told them about other offers, reckoned I wouldn't get a better deal anywhere else on the HTC Desire. That might be the case but as I pointed out they haven't spoke to every other network on my behalf! (and some of the networks haven't released the Desire yet)0 -
GF just called T-Mobile again and at least got someone helpful this time.
Didn't bother with the PAC code just said she wanted to leave... the usual "why do you want to leave" followed. Explained about the MPD deal for £25. He didn't believe it so had a look himself and after telling us "I think you're confusing it with a 24 month deal" he eventually found it and was quite socked by it.
Said no way he could match it so contract cancelled and new Desire ordered from MPD.
So excited0 -
Just thought I'd let everyone here know. I got through to the Welsh contact centre yesterday for T-mobile. I said I wanted to request my PAC code, the first guy I spoke to wasn't very helpful at all. He transferred me to "customer service". "Customer service" then transferred me to the real retentions. She asked why I wanted to leave, I would miss out on the loyalty discount.Loyalty discount, what loyalty discount I said, I have been with T-mobile for 7 years, only ever had one uprgrade. I mentioned the MPD deal, I said I only want to spend a max of £20 a month for 18 month contract. The deal for this is advertised as £129 for the phone. I said I wasn't happy to pay so much, she said she could make it cheaper for 24 month, I declined. She then said the lowest she could go was £100 for the handset. I decided to go for this deal. I wasnt too bothered by minutes, it's 300 texts, 300 minutes. So I "saved" £29 due to my loyalty. Make of that what you will lol
MPD £25 deal: (25*18) = 450 minus any cashback
My T-mobile deal: (20*18)+100 = £460 but I get 3GB internet and flexible booster.0 -
With T-mobile, what speed is the unlimited internet? Does it run at HSDPA speeds even on the cheaper (eg. £15pm) contracts?0
