The Desire technically beats the iphone 3GS hands down and you also have to pay a premium for the iphone as they are not discounted. Desire every day of the week for me

If Orange will be offering the Desire for free on a 30pm/24 month contract then with a bit of luck we should be able to get a good enough upgrade deal through retentions on an 18 month contract. Cant see Orange offering anything close to what T-Mobile have when upgrading but should be able to get a better deal than swapping networks. Fingers crossed

Just checked the Orange site and the new multimedia monthly tariffs are available.

The Dolphin plans stay at an internet cap of 500MB per month but the Panther plans are now unlimited (Couldn't find the small print to show the fair use cap)

A Panther 35 plan (£30 online) for 24 months -

600 mins, unlimited texts, unlimited internet and 50 photo messages

Panther 35 plan for 18 months has no online discount though so is £35

400 mins, unlimited texts, unlimited internet and 50 photo messages which is pretty poor

A Dolphin 35, £30 online, 24 months -

800 mins, unlimited texts, 500MB internet

Dolphin 35, £35 (no online discount), 18 months

500 mins, unlimited texts, 500MB internet

Im disappointed with the new tariffs to be honest. With the online discounts set up the way they are Orange are pushing everyone into a 24 month contract because the 18 month price plans are useless

All in all the 24 month Panther plans seem to stand up quite well when comparing with other networks, trouble is i dont want 24 months

If you look at the new tariff add-ons, it's £5 a month for 500MB internet access and (if I'm reading it right), £8.70 pm for unlimited (with a 10GB cap as I read it). So perhaps 10GB is the fair use limit for Panther tariffs (btw, where do you see internet as being unlimited for Panther? I can't see that.)?

Internet access is already factored into the Dolphin and Panther tariffs. The £5 internet bolt on is for Canary and Racoon plans

Yes, I know. I just wondered if 10GB might be the definition of 'unlimited' for all 4 schemes, as it seems to be stated as such for the Canary and Racoon bolt-ons.

Just in case anybody missed this on hot deals:

I noticed this quote on Amazon in comments on the Legend, recommending the Desire instead.

I went ahead and signed up for the contract with T-mobile

"Hi ****, this is just a suggestion but I found this deal from T-Mobile and its actually for the HTC Desire, I don't know if your interested on that phone (in my opinion is far better than the Legend in every way apart from the Aluminium Body) but I think its by far the best deal out there and I don't think Vodafone, O2 or the rest will be able to match it.

Its a 24 months contract, with 100 minutes any network, any time. 100 texts any network, any time. Unlimited* internet and a flexible booster which you can chooseplus optional extra boosters at £5.

Browse on the move, 3GB monthly allowance for Android phones, which is superb and plenty for any user, because most networks offer between 500MB - 1GB. You pay £10 a month for 24 months and £164 upfront when you sign up for the contract.

So at the end of the contract your total will come to £404, which is the same as buying it sim free, but with the Sim free version you don't get the above benefits.

Agree totally, I haven't seen that many deals for O2 yet hence the post. I'm gonna wait a while before i make the leap:)
