If u are desperate for an orange network Desire.., try CPW or mobiles.co.uk.., it will be on the network, have no branding (major advantage in my opinion) and u should be able to get it next day or soon after.
Incorrect. Kevin Blanchard head of Orange PR confirmed yesterday via Twitter that
"We will be stocking the HTC Desire from early April...and an exclusive black edition from late April..tempted?"

If you don't mind paying £169 for the handset, you can get them on T-Mobile for as little as a tenner a month.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

yes ive been checking oranges website almost everyday expecting to see news about the phone being released but not a sausage so it is available on orange but for some reason its not available direct from orange which is weirdLack of network branding IS the big benefit.
It will mean quicker updates for the phone.
The chain of firmware will go:
Nexus One
Plain Desire (as HTC need to sort out SenseUI for it)
Network branded Desire

Do you know what price plan it will be free at?
I spoke to Virgin CS a couple of times in the last few weeks, most recently on Saturday. The guy said that Virgin would release new offers tomorrow (31st) and, the phone would be on sale on Thursday, no idea yet of what price plan but, he did say it might be £30 pm! which is bad news considering the type of deals with T-Mobile, although paying for the phone, at least they have low tariffs...0 -
I'm thinking about buying the Desire sim free (from handtec or clove) with the current cashback on offer from o2 at TopCashBack it would work out:
~£487 over 12 months.
see £200 cashback on 12-mth o2 SIMplicity SIM-only mo...
ps. I noticed Amazon and eXpansy's increased their price for the Desire to £440 recently...0 -

I spoke to Virgin today, to a sales person that really wasn't helpful (sounded like she didn't want to be there).., she said that there was no announcement as to when Virgin would get the phones, just Early April. I pointed out that April was two days away but she just said it was 'probably' going to be with them within the first two weeks of April.
NOT ordering from them lol.., I've ordered from mobiles.co.uk.., but inspite of ordering by 3pm Monday, I guess they have problems with the phones coming in (Tmobile has too apparently - a delivery hasn't come in for them as well) so still waiting for a dispatch mail. Was supposed to be a delivery Monday, then today.
No despatch mail so it doesn't look like I will get a phone til Thursday.
Update: Finally received dispatch email.., so will get it tomorrow (Thursday) from mobiles.co.uk.0 -

Thanks for the info!
I think £30 p/m is really poor value.
Hopefully you can use t-mobile to make virgin match them.
Good luck, let me know if you get a handset through Virgin in the end. I am interested in what type of branding/logos on the phone and whether it would be locked or unlocked.
I know that some Htc HD2 slipped through that were sim free, no branding/logo's and unlocked. Lucky people0 -
Where did you read that? Last info i had directly from Orange was its still likely to be a few weeks yet
Can you link to the source?
I've found this today www .techradar.com/news/phone-and-communications/mobile-phones/vodafone-s-htc-desire-uk-release-date-revealed-680736 ( no space after the www i couldn't add link due to being a new user)
its rumoured to be released 2nd April .will be free on a £30 per month, two year deal, with 900 free minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB internet when bought online.
i really wanna snap one up. i've been undecided between the iphone and the 'desire'. i need one of them in my life. My orange contract ended back in december so i wanna see what they can offer me.
