Went to Asda and found their SP Biological Washing Powder to be reduced on the shelf label from 50p to 25p. Picked up £2 worth, which normally would have cost us £8 ish had we have gone for our normal 'economy' brand name and size. Got home and checked my receipt...got charged 74p per box, not 25p. So rang and customer services confirmed I could have a refund for the difference as their shelf edge was wrong and has no gone back up to 74p0

That's one the main reasons why I always check my receipt before I leave the till. I now do this because I once bought two of something but when I checked the receipt at the bus-stop the stupid assistant had charged me for three but it was too late to go back.0

Got given a brand new yard glass with stand today. It was in the education shed (Apparently it was a left over raffle prize) Weirdly enough a couple of weeks ago I found 2' party straws in thingy-me-bobs. The two go perfectly together! Extra party/drinking fun - whole cost 50p :beer:All that is gold does not glitter

Today I "found" the bits and pieces for another meal in the back of the store cupboard. Fantastic as I'd probably have gone for a takeaway that the kids wouldn't have eaten - so saved money two ways.Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
I make jewellery. Normally when using split rings (Like miniature keyrings) people just use their thumbnail to open them but you can get split ring pliers specifically for the job to save you ruining your fingernails!
So I was looking at these split ring pliers on eBay and was just thinking about how they can be quite expensive, when I had a great idea!
I have a pairs of old jewellery crimping pliers that I haven't used in years. I don't know if they worked when I first bought them (you would assume so) but they don't now as the small indent part that makes crimps is too small and the jaws didn't quite meet (and as they are specifically for crimping you can't really use them for much else)...
But I thought well would they work like split ring pliers, as they have the same sticky out bit which is the sole feature of split ring pliers (and make them useless for any other jobs).
I tried them and they work perfectly! I decided that as I was never likely to use them as crimping pliers again I'd also risk getting my files out and seeing if filing the inside of the jaws would help them to close properly - and it worked!
I now have a pair of pliers to put back on my pliers stand, saving pounds on buying a new tool that would rarely be used and also having a new use for the old ones.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -
The nice checkout lady at Tesco gave me a pile of Tesco school vouchers that the last person didn't want.0

Having wanted to try different meals for lunches during the week for hubby and i but not wanting the expense of ingredients should i not like them found a bargain on feta cheese just in Sainsburys on the deli counter (i havent had it before, i dont like stilton brie and the likes so wary of anything other than cheddar) it was reduced from £10 per kg to £1. A recipe i saw in one of my books the other day required 300g so asked the lady for some around that weight, it was slightly short but only cost 25p so no biggy if i dont like it. Also treated hubby to some marmite cheddar reduced to £3per kg instead of £13per kg. We only went in to take his prescription.:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j

I am an avid crafter and was watching create and craft on tv a while ago when they had this thing called a loopy loom on.........oh great looked a lot of fun to do but horrors - it cost £14.99!! and the postage. and it was only a peice of board with a couple of thick pegs about six inches apart. well today i was in a charity shop and i saw a baby bottle drainer. it had a base with slots and all these pegs of two different hieghts and thought hmmmmm I wonder............
well it was only £1.29 so I brought it home and had a go. the only modification I needed to make was to hot glue the pegs in! plus i put a little peg where the inner loop goes and am now experimenting with additional pegs to make more loops!
all in all I am pretty pleased with myself and my bargain!!! oh and I made an Identical scarf to the one on C+C in about half an hour!!!!!!!!!!!!!0
