  • I took $25.00 of gold coins into the shops to pay off my layby today.

I was given 3 melon seedlings and the promise of 3 banana trees ( bout 2 ft tall now )

Rummaged in the compost heap ( about my 1 year anniversary of having a heap - I am sooo proud ) and got 2 large pots of compost to plant on some tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers.

Got the promise of some herbs in exchange for a tomato plant.

A friend sewed a pair of donated trousers up from another friend for DD1 who is going on a school trip and needs "black pants!" ...we live in Darwin...what 12 year old has black pants!!

  • A big handful of french beans from the garden and the best of all, a lovely extendable oak dining table with 4 ladderback chairs and 2 ladderback carver chairs....and some lovely table cloths, one for everyday and one for Christmas. Mum ordered some new handcrafted pine dining furniture and gave me their lovely oak dining table and chairs. Also, Mum fed me and DD this evening :-)

Picked some blackberries, got some sweetcorn from the allotment for tea. Oh and the other day I got a small brand-new-looking plastic dog bed out of a skip (the cat loves it!)

yesterday I got fed up of fishing grandsons toy cars out from under the sofas (they are huge and weigh a ton and I cant get my arm under them!) so used a bamboo cane - not efficient! so was wishing for one of those grabber thingys. I know they cost over a tenner in the local shop which sells disabled aids and wasnt going to spend that much!
goes up the local shop this evening and they are selling grabbers for 99 pence!!! yayyyy!!!

thinking about it - I may well take it shopping as I am quite petite and usually have to ask complete strangers to get things off the top shelves for me (unless the staff have left a kickstool in the aisle)!

  • I got a really lovely good quality picture frame in the CS for 99p

Sterling silver crystal drop earrings £1 in Claires Accessories

    glass cheese board £1.40 CS

Asda were selling of boxes of 8 scented candles (votive sized) for 50p,

Alworths (old woolies) had led lanterns for 99p

large canvas from the 99p store

small jar candles that I needed to match some bigger jars 99p in Primark and they smell so much nicer and are better quality jars than the ones in the pound shops (and they match my bigger jars better too)!

various crafting items on ebay at half to a quarter of their original price saving me a fortune

All this stuff is for our wedding next year & bought over the last 2 weeks! I'm trying not to spend money unless it's for our wedding and at a bargain price!
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.
  • My darling parents gave me the money to puchase the car tax. That's such a load of worry off my mind as i had no means to pay for it. Hadn't even mentioned anything to them about it, bless 'em.

  • I took my friend blackberrying today, and came home with half a bucketful. Whilst on the way home she asked me to stop off at a house selling produce and bought me a jar of jam and some flowers. When we got back to her house, she went into the garden and picked me half a carrier bag full of eating apples, and the same of pears, onions and chillies. Then from her freezer gave me 2 x 2kg bags of prepared plums. Then hubby came home with a load of broccoli from the farm.
    Really made my day :)
  • I found a large heated propagator propped at the side of a rubbish bin today. There is a small crack in the inside of it, but even if the heater doesn't work, it's twice the size of the propagators I have here and FREE! yeh
