  • Can anyone use this or do you have to have an account at the bank?

To bank change it is normally required you have an account for the money to be paid into. Most won't just change it to notes etc but you can do two separate transactions.

Also be aware some banks may limit you on how much you put in at once, best thing is to go during a quiet time or to a smaller branch which is quieter. I know this is true of Lloyds TSB, but if you put it into a childs account there is no max limit normally.

Today I went to the village fete. Picked up a couple of nice books, Garden Flowers from Seed, which is an illustrated dictionary and The Book of Preserves by Mary Norwak, also a small glass kitchen board with piglets on it (I love pigs) and a gardeners cup with lid to keep the flies out all for the very OS cost of £2.60 Oh I forgot that also includes a dvd An Introduction to Quilting. Bargain.

It's only a bargain if you were going to buy it anyway!

We got given a futon last week for nothing from my mum's friend - we've been living without a sofa for 5 months so this was much appreciated!!

A good find of ours, our new house has a big lock up in the garden mostly filled with junk, but we found a set of le cruset pots in there which are amazing!

  • Went to visit my friend this morning and she sent me home with a bag of goodies - pumpkin, green beans, cherries and apples from her garden! Then I went to my grandparent's and my Nanna gave me a gorgeous cut glass cake stand as a housewarming present (it belonged to my great Aunt originally!) and a bag full of tomatoes. Going to be well fed with veggies this week :)
  • One of our local charity shops was closing today for a refit.

Yesterday everything was £1 & I got 2 pairs of linen mix Next trousers and a Per Una silk chiffon top for a total of £3

Today everything was 5 items for £1 so I splashed out £2 & got 5 paperbacks, 2 games for my grandsons, a pair of glass candlesticks, a lovely pottery jar with a cork lid from a local pottery & an old fashioned ceramic pudding basin.
I love the pudding basin as I haven't one of these for years and I'm looking forward to make a meat pudding in it this winter.

You need to have an account with HSBC. I think some other banks do have them but you'd need to check. There is a thread on MSE somewhere if I can find it.....
