Potato bake recipe please

    i have um cooked it, but there is what looks like cheese mixed with milk (hard to describe, almost like watery scrambled egg apperance ) and a clearish liquid?

    have i cooked it wrong and is it ok to eat, smells ok but i just want to check

    Sounds normal to me - it'll be the cheese 'curdling' with the milk because there's no flour emulsifying it into a sauce.

    Sounds like the milk had split - it's nothing to worry about and will be fine to eat, just doesn't look that attractive. It usually happens when milk is cooked at too high a temperature, and tends to happen when there's either too much or not enough fat in the milk or cream - next time try using whipping cream, and cooking it at a lower temperature for longer.

    ahh thank you i can rest now knowing i wont cuase the boys to be ill, tasted nice and the baby loved it, so now the rest will be mashed up and frozen in portions big enough for his dinner

    If it's my recipe for potato bake it's fine for it to be a bit watery. It's the water coming out of the onions. It will still taste lovely.

    lol yes it was your recipie thought i would give it a go, going to start meal planning for 2 weeks at a time now and think potato bake will be something i give the kids once a week they loved it

    Can you tell me wher the recipe is please, as te only one I can see in the recipe index is with baked beans - Yuck!
