I still haven't watched any of my own films but I did borrow and watch "Rock of Ages".

I'm not sure what to think about it - Tom Cruise was brilliant, the soundtrack was amazing but it felt like they decided what songs they wanted to put in and then tried to create a story to fit - a bit like some episodes of Glee. I could happily put it on and then do something else and just listen to it! Glad I watched it though.

I also watched "Dark Shadows" which was from Lovefilm - didn't think much to it. Seemed very slow and not at all funny - which the trailer seemed to suggest it was supposed to be. Thought Helana Bonham Carter was good though!

I sorted my DVDs out at the weekend and have put my unwatched ones in separate boxes to the watched and keeping boxes. Also sorted some out to get rid of.

I'm not sure how many each box holds but I've a feeling its somewhere between 80 and 100 so I've got a lot of watching to do! There was also about 20 that I couldn't remember if I'd watched them or not so they went in the unwatched box as well.

    Didn't know I had so many that I haven't seen :o

i finally have an update after sorting through our DVD collection, so this will be my official starting benchmark here:

    Films sold: 13
    Films given away: 1
    Films to sell: 101
    Films bought: 0

    Films remaining in collection: 407
    Films remaining to watch: 64

although the number in our collection may increase due to gifts, etc, i vow to try not to actually buy any more until those 64 are done.

    another one down:

‘Forces of Nature’...a light-hearted rom-com along the lines of ‘straight-laced man meets free-spirited girl who changes his life’. i’ve seen it all before, but as it had Sandra Bullock in it, it was more than bearable for a Girl’s Night. i am A Fan.

as i suspected, DH is not completely on board with this whole 'not buying DVDs' lark, and wandered home with a cheap DVD the other night: 'Salmon Fishing in the Yemen'

it was a good enough film, but i had to give him a Stern Talking To.

however i realised that some of the films that i had included in my 'to watch' pile were ones i've seen before but want to re-watch, so i have taken them out of the picture. new stats:

    Films remaining to watch: 57
    Films bought: 1 (damn him)
