Hi tieg,
Try having a read at this article, any questions feel free to ask but that's written for the perspective of those of us that have to fix them.

Thanx k,
I think I'm set on the admiral gc2224gek now, its so bloody confusing:rolleyes:
Ideally I'd have a silver coloured one but also I really like the black.
I can't have some of the stainless steel cos I dont like the feel of them-they make me grit me teeth (argh I'm doing it now just thinking about it):rotfl: :rotfl:
Strange I know!Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach that person touse the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks.:D0 -
Na, not at all.
The Admiral is good IMO but I just like the Maytag made machines, no bother with them unlike these damn Korean things, constant heartaches.
Let me put it this way, I've had a Maytag in a dress for over ten years and I've only ever had to replace the water valve as it clogged up due to dirt in the water here. Bar that, the ice bucket has seen better days but that's mainly due to my, ehm, being a tad over zealous of an evening than the machine itself.
We've never made a call to a Maytag made unit that was under 5 years old I don't think and when we do see them, they're usually over a decade old. When you're going to invest the best part of a grand anyway then it's my opinion you may as well spend the little extra and get a good one that's gonna last. It's not a thing you want to replace in a hurry.

Hi I too have just had problems with my Samsung Frdige Freezer. It had iced up in the frdige compartment which stopped the water and also slowly stopped the fan - then the temperature in the fridge went wonky - It was cold at the bottom but warmer at the top but the display temp was OK - I used and external thermometer which showed the top at 10oc and the bottom at 7oCX as indicated by the display. I defrosted the fridge (and freezer which was working fine) and then removed the fan which was as posted by someone previously; completely frozen up. I defrosted that and the 10inch by 2 by 2 block of ice over the drain hole - Cleared the drain hole put it all back together and it appears to be fine now. What I would like to know is; Does anyone know where I can get spare parts for my fridge? Whilst all is working now I want to buy a psare fan in case it dies completely.
Many thanks0 -
My water dispenser has not been working for a couple of weeks and I have tried to resolve it. Stuff in the fridge then started to go off very quickly and I suddenly noticed the high fridge temperature. I had tried everything to resolve it then read this thread. Luckily, mine is in warranty and the engineer is coming on Friday. Has anyone managed to get compensation for wasted food?
By the way, rather than use the 0870 number, I found that this direct one works 01932 454358. Hope this helps.0 -
Can I say what a great site this has been for me. My RS21DCNS started making fan noises last week and finally stopped cooling the top part of the fridge compartment. Its 5 years old so has done reasonably well. I was searching the internet for details on how to access the workings and came across this forum today. I have just followed the instructions for defrosting the fan compartment and enlarged the drain hole. Its plugged back in now and the temperature is falling well so far. Hopefully the fan is working properly again and the problem is fixed.
Thanks for the advice0 -
I just want to say a huge thanks to gfb for going to the considerable effort of posting the DIY guide to fixing the problem. It's very kind and helpful of you.
I also have a Samsung RS21DCNS, coming up to 3 years old, and this morning the fridge packed up completely after I noticed the fan became noisy a few weeks ago.
I'm going to try gfb's guide later.
After reading this thread, and similar ones on several other forums, I find it shocking that Samsung have probably sold thousands of these models with an inherent design fault, but won't admit to it. Needless to say I'll never purchase any Samsung product again as a mark of my disgust.0
