We are experiencing the same problems as most people have described.
noisy motor
fridge tempeture fluctating
hot & cold spots
ice forming by bottom salad box
freezer has just started to play up <defrosting from the top>
Ice machine defrosted and no more ice
I think thats about it, agree comet and samsung dont want to know and being passed from one to another until i told comet that samsung dont deal with machines more than two years old. I will have a go at gfb instructions tonight and hopefully i will be able to cancel the comet service man for this sturday has i just have this feeling that i am going to get a service technician who will have not a clue what he is looking for and also do a trial & error job. :rotfl:  :mad:Keep right on :T :beer:0 -
to gfb ...thank you very much for the instructions, so far so good...I'm going to try and get the kit that repairs it fully, if it exists. I think this is a case of 'you get what you pay for'...but its still not 'cheap'0

Thanks to this forum I have chased down and found a permanent fix for this problem:
I have a 3 year old RS21DCSV1 which started to "ice up" and cause the noisy fan problem, fridge not cooling properly and water dispenser not dispensing.
I tried defrosting, as suggested in previous posts, which works for about 3 weeks.
I called Samsung who would not acknowledge a known fault and would only pass on the number of a local authorised repairer.
I called them, they were not interested in the fault, but only in informing ne of their call out charge of £47.00 + vat and that they would charge for any parts used - not even an estimate of the likely cause or cost - useless!
So with a little help from Google and the info posted by samsung.tech.guy I searched for "samsung fridge repair kit" which took me to atsscotland.co.uk/samsung_fridge_repair.html.
They charge £ 129.99, + £ 14.99 p & p for a full repair kit and step by step photo instructions.
So I called the number and spoke directly to one of their engineers who was brilliant. (I beleive he may be samsung tech guy) who explained why I needed the new front panel - the part with the fan - this is because the density of the polystyrene has been improved to reduce condensation. He also told me how to test the defrost heater by using the front panel controls to override the settings. If this heater does not work it would also require replacing. Fortunately mine worked.
He also explained that you must test the drain underneath the cooling element as there are problems with some of these not draining water properly due to poor manufacture.
So, long story short, I ordered the parts - came first class, fitted them using their comprehensive instructions and hey presto - permanent fix. Now been working fine for over a month.:j
I have just had the same parts replaced on my Samsung. I had put mine on cover with the same company as I insure a couple of other appliance with, at a cost of £3 per month and after it had packed up twice they replaced the part for me. However, I really do think Samsung suck big time for not acknowledging this problem. It is shocking that they are not doing more to put this right.0 -
who does your cover for appliances, as the ones i came across only continues warrenties, and mine has expired.0

Thanks to GFB for a great set of instructions. Followed them to the letter and fridge is now working again. Will fit the kit if problem reappears, BTW had the FF for over 4 years and this is the first time this problem has happened.:pB&SC No. 298

No such luck for me, the comet technician came out saturday stated i needed at least four new parts, comet has just phoned to say that the pcb unit is no longer available. and to think this fridge is only four years old and samsung cannot replace this part!!
I tried GFB instructions to no avail, but i am not sure if my earlier model the SR - S2028 is different that the fan could be in the freezer side as this where the comet guy went to, he like me had difficulty in getting the cover off and this must be due to the thick ice formed over the last few weeks.
Will have another look at the freezer part tonight and see if i can get to the fan and hopefully thaw that out as well.
Funnily enough since the comet guy looked at it the freezer has gone back to normal and the ice machine has started working again, but the fridge is still up & down.
I will also get in touch with samsung and tell them how i feel.Keep right on :T :beer:0 -

That can't be correct.
Can you give me the full model number and I'll see if I can track the part for you.
If it is correct then you should be entitled to a replacement or a concessionary sale, that's standard practice where this happens and I'd be very surprised in Samsung let that happen.

Apologies for not getting back to you sooner, After i was informed by comet that this item was not available i e-mailed a subsidery of samsung who requested that they required the part number of the PCB board. I explained to them that i am not an expert or an engineer and wouldent even know where the PCB unit is, i also said that in this day & age that they would not be able to know which one it is:mad: Kwatt would the full model number of the fridge be suffice? If so i will state tomorrow.:AKeep right on :T :beer:0
