Surely goldfingers you should have rejected the RS21 at an earlier date? Our RS20 went on the blink after a year and half, and having read the inspiring words of Terry Nuttall, we asked Comet for a relacement side by side ff, any model other than a Samsung would do. We now have a LG - a fantastic monster! When all was settled, Samsung customer relations (I'd written to complain to them about their shoddy goods) replied to say their range of ff's was second to none and that we were not having a replacement or a refund. Phew! Thankyou Comet for treating us courteously. I'll buy from you again, but I'll never touch any Samsung product again0

Hi there all, i have heard that a modification made by samsung to the back panel is available. Has anyone else heard or purchased one of these modified parts. The mod entails fitting a heat transfer clip to the defrost heater, the back panel has a metal plate to transfer heat to the fan motor drainage hole, when the back panel is fitted into place the clip and plate touch.
Every 12 hours during defost it allows heat to get to the drain hole to stop the ice building up. Can anyone shed any more light on this. Thanks0 -
I have a nearly 8 year old Samsung American Cool Tech FF. One of the first ones to come out. The water cooler fills up from a jug of water you get from the tap, not linked to the mains water.
For a while now the veggie box at the bottom of the fridge gets awfully wet inside and is actually turning fruit and veg rotten because of this. The freezer occasionally gets very wet too, I think it partially defrosts itself.
Now, obviously, after this length of time I am stuck re warranty, but anyone any ideas as to what I can do with such an old model? The light switch is nowhere near the two fans which are located at the back so the instructions earlier just would not work.
The fans actually go around and you can see them stopping from time to time too.
Thanks:hello:0 -
I am trying to find someone to come out to my freezer mention the word Samsung and they don't want to know. My husband has done the thawing and making the hole bigger and now the water supply has stopped again just 2 weeks on. I know I am in for a temperature rise very soon. If anyone knows any fridge repairers who will indeed touch Samsung In the Midlands (staffordshire) please let me know. I contacted someone recommended by White Goods as being Samsung repairers they told me they no longer did them. I am so frustrated0

I called Samsung themselves instead of the retailer's repair network. They sent out an engineer yesterday who knew exactly what the fault was and how to fix it, he came already armed with the 3 parts needed. He said he had fixed loads of machines with this fault.
As it happened, I also had a fault with the freezer that I didn't know about. There didn't seem to be anything wrong with it to me but it showed up as a error line on the display so he changed the freezer parts and fixed that too.
He also took the back off and hoovered out the inside, so my f/f is practically new again, lol. I can't fault the service bloke, he was knowledgeable and did a really good job.
Once it was going again, I immediately saw a big difference in temperature.....with hindsight I now realise that my fridge was showing as 3 degrees on the panel but was nowhere near this inside and was actually a lot warmer.
Hope that's the end of it now. Good luck to the rest of you with this problem.
Unhappy lady.......have you called Samsung themselves and asked them who is on their recommended repairers list. They use independants and if you got some contact details you could phone them yourself instead of going through Samsung maybe?
I got the details of the independant bloke who came out to me so I can call him if anything else breaks down that's out of warranty.0 -
Hi Zeibedee
thanks for that I have indeed contacted Samsung for the neames of repairers. I have also spoken to the lady on the other end but as for speaking to a Technician to explain anything and tell him I don't want them defrosting and reassembling it well that seems a no go area. I cannot get a return call. Now in desperation I have spoken to greg in Scotland mentioned ealier in the threads (they supply the Samsung repair kit) and am having the 3 parts supplied. I had a long chat to him and he said it ws the usual Samsing problem. Getting a big corporation like Samsung to admit there there was a design fault would be nigh on impossible, that is unless we all take it the Watchdog. I will let you all know how it goes.
I would be intereted to know the cost of your repairs Zebeidee0 -
Sorry....I have no idea, mine was repaired under warranty.0

Sorry for late reply.
We ie my wife was told by Samsung they would only replace the FF if it had the same fault 3 times in the warranty period and they kept saying it was a different fault. Anyway the service fella came two days ago as soon as he walked in i said i want this piece of junk written off with a full report. Told him of previous attempts by service men to fix it and it is still the same. He told me yes he reckons it is a manufactures fault and when i told him the freezer is now making the dreaded helicopter noise when the door is opened he just wrote it all down with a great big list of parts that would be needed to fix it properly. So today i phoned up the insurance place and they told me great news my Samusung FF has been written off :T.. Will be waiting for my suppler to get in touch with me now there is no way i will accept another Samsung...0 -
Just wanted to quickly say, we are in the middle of 'repairing' ours now (midnight). All the posts here are very enlightening, and I wish we had seen them before we purchased. Thanks to those of you who posted repair advice!
I have emailed Watchdog, as this problem is huge, and is so hugely frustrating for those of us that own one. I am furious, and our problem only begun a few hours ago.0
