  • chickens didnt like the change of scenery , so they !!!!ped all over the road for someone to skid on

the lizard on the scooter spooked them

why did the chicken cross the road?
    1. to avoid all the horse excrement carelessly left where it dropped
    2. to get out of the way of those irate A4 drivers :D:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
The advice I give on here is based on my many years in the preservation industry. I choose to remain anonymous, I have no desire to get work from anyone. No one can give 100% accurate advice on a forum if I get it wrong you'll get a sincere apology and that's all:D

    Clive,

Horses were using unpaved roads made for horses before cars, they were not using paved roads made for cars before cars.

Thomas Telford built the London to Holyhead Road in about 1818 through 1826, especially the stretch between Shrewsbury and Capel Cruig (A5)

These roads were paved in a fashion of John McAdam, as used today on raods as Tar-McAdam!

  • Blimey. Mr Lahey, I was actually going to go on your rather self pitying thread about being caught with dodgy tyres and thank you, because it did at least make me go and check mine (which were fine <smug>). However, whilst I really hoped I'd never resort to stupid name calling on this forum, you really have revealed yourself to be a complete twit. Why not ram little old ladies driving their Nissan micras at 25mph off the road? OOh, and club cyclists - they're annoying, there are always lots of them together. OOh, and kids - you know, guides, scouts etc - they go out for rambles and stuff and <gasps> use roads - scatter the lot of them, why don't you? Ignorant prat.

Since your 'name calling' was a one off you could have put a bit of effort it - Prat? I mean come on.

you know what really pees me off about this thread? the sheer numbers of twits who claim because they live in country areas believe they are are in right about complaining about animals on the roads!
just because you live in the country (but are really city people who drive 4x4s and wear the appropriate clothing) does not make you locals you know. you wonder why the locals dont like you? because you dont understand the country life! if you did you wouldnt be bleating about horses on the road or cockerels waking you up or the smell of shte when the farmer is manuring! the problem is - you want the country cottage and empty lanes to race about in and a nice cosy country pub serving gourmet meals!!! you have this ideal about the country - but want to apply city values! if thats you - and most of the posters can take it I mean you - stay in the city where you wont have to meet horses on the roads.

I do not live in the country but i like the idea of it,i love horses,i like to see the image of the ruddy red faced farmer tending to his cattle and doing the things they do in there fields.

I love the smell of Napalm in the morni.......Oh hang on thats a film, sorry.I love the smell of the fields and the oil seed rape being cut by them big green machines that court the name of John deere.

Trust me even though i have been silly here,i love the idea of living in the country, not to hack off the locals just for the peace and quiet that it brings.

Living in the countryside is good.
But it is the so called locals who have lived there for generations who think they have more right than you and old biddies who have retired and that because they are old they have more rights than you.

But i work in the city and i have to say, it is beautiful where i live, even when it snowed and we were all stranded it was British countryside at its best.
