have you ever seen a horse with a valid mot , road tax , insurance ?
if you own a horse you should own land to exercise it or you shouldnt own a horse !
you lot are a pain, horses were never meant to go on tarmac so stick to what your animal is comfortable with and leave the road to the road users !
rant over (for now )

Gosh did you have a bad day today, or has it been a bad year? There are so many things I occasionally feel the need to vent about. This is not one of them. I love seeing the horses on the roads round here, but do make sure I drive by them slowly and carefully.0

They were here way before cars so why shouldn't they be on the roads?
Pass wide and slow and go one your way, whats the problem?
Kelou out of interest why did you thank the op?0 -
I expect when vehicles stop using bridle paths, horses would consider not using roads..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Horses aren't a problem for me, i find idiotic drivers are more of a a concern for me0

I don't mind horses being on the road, but it does bother me slightly that some horses are clearly not comfortable being that close to cars. When I was a little girl I saw a horse hit by a car once, it was awful, the road was closed and a vet called, the horse was put to sleep but it was making the most horrendous noises.
I have no experience with horses, but if I had a horse I wouldn't take them on main roads, not because the horse is doing any harm, but because of the many irresponsible drivers out there.:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

Nothing more annoying than being stuck behind 2 muppets on horses, ambling along side by side chatting away....Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

if i drive a car i need a licence , i need insurance and i need to be taxed and OVER 17 . what are the requirements for a horse rider ? my mum walking at the side of me with a high visibility jacket saying " inexperienced rider "
dont get me going on this. i would love to be able to ride a horse , but I would want to ride it in a safe situation away from modern day traffic and in a situation that the horse would be comfortable with.
why put an animal through a situation that is not their norm ? (unless the horse is 100 years old and can remember the days before the motor car )
at least tractors are earning a living (another pet hate )we all have bad days , some more than others ..................0 -

What do you think was there before tarmac?
Roads are not solely intended for cars, anyone who is capable of being on a road safely and showing respect and courtesy to others should be allowed to use it.
Most horse owners are responsible on the roads, as are most car drivers. It's a shame you feel such vitriol towards a group of people who have likely done little to you than delay your journey by a minute or two. Some horse riders are muppets on the road but unfortunately I have encountered more prattish behaviour from car drivers (unlike lorry drivers, who are largely fantastic with horses)
If you feel so strongly about it, please use your energy by supporting your local bridleway group so that the UK's bridleways can be a) maintained to a safe and appropriate state and b) extended.
As to the other poster, whilst it is true that some horses will always have a 'thing' about cars no matter what their experience, I have found that the majority of horses who are scared of traffic are so because of a previous near miss/actual collisionDespite the name, I'm actually a laydee!0
