Here is some logic - if a phone service is to last up to 4th, it would last up to midnight on 4th. The earliest they could have disconnected would have been 5th when people were back in the office to deal with their systems.

Now if you are really quibbling about a few pennies - then do what is sensible and phone them and ask what your final bill is.

You obviously don't know how they work. They do NOT disconnect at "midnight on 4th". They disconnect in the morning of 4th yet charge you the full day. Also, if you then give notice for the day before they charge you for an "early disconnection". Either way, a few hundred thousand disconnections a year at a few scammed pence for each one because -people don't know what's going on is a lot of extra profit for a dishonest company. Those eho criticise others for making sure that doesn't happen may be happy to be conned, but hardly have the right to belittle those who are not!

And you obviously do - personally I don't give a monkey's about a few pennies and whining about it. If you have PROOF then show it by providing the definitive rules used by vodafone or any other operator (and PROVE they are all making money out of this).
  • Your usual nonsense! The reason your relative got a credit is that O2 operate entirely differently to Vodafone. Vodafone's extra charges in the normal sequence of events have NOTHING to do with call charges - I have never exceeded my allowance pro-rate or otherwise. They are purely to do with charging an extra day one way or another. As for "proof", not much point giving such to you, since you ignore truth and experience and always defend a corporation come hell or high water.

I cancelled my contract in December and asked for my PAC, as my contract ended on 26/1/10. Vodafone issued the PAC on 24/12/09 and stated it run out on 24/1/10. I used the PAC to transfer my no. to 3, who said it would be transferred on 26th. My Vodafone sim was switched off on 26/1/10 and I did not use it for a couple of days before then. My Jan bill was up to 26/1/10, so I assumed there would be no charge as I had paid up to the end of my contract. I used Jan's bill to claim my cashback, so I don't have a copy of it, as I deleted from my laptop, after I received my cashback cheque.

Yesterday I received a Feb bill from Vodafone through the post for £1.24 which includes Messages 0.40, cancellation prior to end of contract 0.77 VAT 0.07. Firstly I had already paid up to 26/1 which was the end of my contract and charged for messages I had not sent.

I went to double check online my Jan bill but cannot access online billing. Vodafone obviously think you will just pay the bill, even though I don't owe it.

I have emailed Vodafone so we'll see what they say, as I do have another contract with them for my daughter.
  • Yep. Of course, we could not bother checking or complaining and let them get away with it as some on here consider appropriate. Personaly, I always check, always get charged a little extra, always challenge that and always get the refund. Of course, to some the (no doubt) thousands of thousands who don't shouldn't worry anbout "a few pence"; I WONDER why Vodafone does then??? Musn't criticise them though - merely those who notice and actually DO something about it!

To all those who never noticed (or checked); they are taking an extra slice so if you're happy with that (only a few pence...) then fine. If (like me and others) you aren't, then you can easily demand the refund (few pence for you, thousands of pounds for them) if you so wish!

I have a reply from VODA which includes:

"Dear Mr.... I have spoken to my manager about this and as you are our valued customer and as you are not happy with the charge for 5th February 2010 what I have done I have credited your account with £1.07."

What they mean is they have been caught out and as I have bothered to challenge them they have then only charged me what they should have.

If people are happy to overpay then thats up to them. I am not on principle.
