Hi Billie,
Lovely to see new faces and hope you stick around, this is a great place to get to know people (i ended up becoming friends with someone i had never met from the same little town i live in due to this place)
And if nothing else, it is a great place to vent, when feeling a little down xxI will save my tesco £1 savings stamps this year! .......so far = £50 (full card#1)
Card #2 £6. I will not be skint at Chistmas this year!
Total £560 -
Penny Pincher, I use this recipe http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/3066/lemon-and-violet-drizzle-cake
It's a tray bake rather than a loaf and is very light. I don't bother with the crystallised violet decoration!0 -
Caterina,
I didn't get anything but usually don't - we don't do Valentines day, maybe because it comes in between our birthdays so to celebrate it is overkill,0 -

Have you got a rash of any kind there? Could it be shingles?
Just to say that we exchanged gifts & cards - DF got cufflinks & a dressing gown (50% off in Mr T's
) and I got perfume, chocolate caramels (my fave) and some car mats for my new car
.....just hope it doesn't all stop after September when we are married :rotfl:
Am just off to finish making our romantic supper while DF lays the table - h/m chicken liver pate, poached salmon, crushed new potatoes & watercress, and h/m mulled wine jellies with strawberries & vanilla Haagen Daaz :drool:0 -
Floss m - like the sound of you h/m mulled wine jellies yum yum - enjoy and no it shouldn't stop after September.
Thanks to heavenleigh - everyone always makes you feel welcome when you sign on to a new thread. I always have difficulty finding the threads I have been on to!! Just realised OH has been out of work nearly 18 months ugh!! Please let 2010 be our year had enough now and getting deeper into debt although this is a wonderful site for keeping one focused. Love to all Billiexx:j I belong to Mike's Mob :j0 -
Good evening all

Redruby Soooooo glad that your Yorkshires were lovely :T:T I find it a fail safe recipe and everyone who tries it says the same. My Nana would be thrilled
Anguk So pleased that Martyn is home - he'll recover much quicker now I'm sure.
JackieO Lovely words thank you. They brought a lump to my throat too.
Welcome to new posters Apologies that my mind has turned to mush having read the thread now
It's a great place to be and everyone is lovely.
Had a lovely day here. I had a lie in until 10am :eek::D while DH did the usual 3 loads of washing & drying for a change - he's a sweetie. I made a full roast chicken lunch from which we are all still full up. DD went to work at 1pm so she'll get another roast when she finishes at 6pm as the restaurant let the staff eat after service. She's looking forward to this week off college for a rest I think.
I have spent this afternoon watching films with DH & the children and doing some crochet. It's been lovely.
I'm starting to deep clean the house tomorrow in prep for starting my course a week on Monday and we're also decorating DS2 & DS3's bedroom on Thurs and Friday. When I agreed to it 3 weeks ago the school holidays seemed ages away :rotfl:
I hope that everyone has had a nice day & that you all enjoy your evenings xxxx0 -
Evening All
Had nice day today, now just chilling in front of the log fire and tv.
Made my lamb for dinner stretch by buying a yellow stickered chicken from the local shops so have leftovers for tomorrow too.
Glad to see that people have had lovely Valentines Days - Caterina sorry you didn't get anything.
Anguk - fantastic news.
PP - hope the stairlift part comes soon.x0 -
Evening all!
JackieO, that was lovely. I'm sure that valentines day is bittersweet for you.
Taplady-that cake sounds lovely.
Billie-hi and welcome.
My dd gave me a valentines card she'd made at school.
I've spent nearly 4 hours in the garden today-tidying, theres loads left to do but the little I have done looks so much better. I don't know why I'd been putting it off, even clearing leaves and cutting back was theraputic and the sun being out for some of the time helped.
DD (5) has been doing about chinese new year at school so we had homemade egg fried rice, chicken chow mein, chicken in blackbean sauce, sweet and sour chicken and some duck in plum sauce. I am so full I can hardly move and think we'll be on leftovers for much of the week! Watching dd trying to eat with chopsticks (which she insisted on) was hilarious-still the cats got the dropped bits!
Hope everyone has a good evening!July grocery- 24.40/220. NSD-1/3.
Myself, DD, 2 cats, 35 weeks pregnant.

DH made Lemon Drizzle cake from the recipe posted earlier today....lovely! and (under supervision...) he made the Chocolate Fudge pudding from a recipe in the index which we had after dinner with vanilla ice-cream.
DS1 is walking round with a face like a smacked @rse as he's nervous about starting his new job tomorrow and getting himself in a tizz! Just hope it goes well for him.
I have asti in the fridge so I'm going to indulge in a glass or three
Edited to add  to Billie
o0o0o and a :j for Anguk @ Martyn being home

Thank you for your kind words, have just got back from DD's where my lovely DD bought me a big bunch of flowers bless her, and the kids all made a fuss to make up for Granddad not being there. I have truly been blessed with my family and wouldn't swap them for all the tea in China.
We played cards this afternoon and one of my DGS ben sweettallked me into takiing him to his mates on wednesday so they can go fishing.I agreed, but said if the weather's bad then its the cinema for us all.my DD has to work on tuesday and Wednesday so I help out by keeping the little ones amused as my son-in-law often works from home so will need a bit of quiet, I may take them all to the library on Tuesday for awhile ,the little ones like going and choosing their books. I know we are taking them to Dover Castle on Thursday, just hope the rain holds off a bit.
Tomorrow, Argus permitting, I should have my new computer desk and bookcase's delivered. Can't wait to see it all back to normal, and clear out some of the spare room as the boys want to stay one night during half term, and at the moment my spare room is filled with the stuff from my study until the new furniture gets here.Right I'm off to have a nice G&T and hopefully watch the film on BBC 1 at 10.55.I have seen it ages ago but its so good I will watch it again and do some knitting.
Night, Night, God Bless all here
JackieO xx0
