  • Hi Guys!

Happy Valentine's Day. OH did breakfast of Bacon Rolls and a cafetiere of coffee with fresh fruit and yogurt for breakfast on my bed tray thingy. Yummy! The Times have stopped delivering to me from today although I am within the M25 area??? Will call tomorrow and find out why etc.

OH as I type is breaking down DD's chest of drawers as they are knackered and building her new set that he got in the bargain basement of Ikea. There is a new carpet being fitted tomorrow that we got reduced from £200 to £60 as it was an off cut and fitted DD's room perfectly. OH is hoping it will all be finished by Thursday. Think he is keeping himself busy as a bee! He is hoping to paint her walls and build the wardrobe by then too:eek::eek::eek:

My stairlift has been broken for 3 weeks, so most nights I am sleeping on the sofa as I cant get up the stairs. They are awaiting a piece. I am lucky OH is here to help me!

Taplady-Would love the fail proof recipe for the Lemon Drizzle Cake please:D

WM is on and Gammon in the SC.

    Hugs to all.

Morning all................((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))) if you need one.

Not a good start to Valentines day for me, woke up to a text from my friend to say her husband of 9 months passed away during the night, then opened my computer and a friend in the US lost her mother last week........who is next???? they say things come in threes!!

We do not do valentines day, at least not card and present wise if you get my meaning?????

This morning we are moving all the china that is sitting on the floor in the guest room into the sitting room, we have to empty as much as we can out of that room to get the 4 carpets up before the fitters come to fit the new one. DS2 will re - erect the big pine wardrobe for me when he comes next weekend, not sure when the carpet will come. We are using an old established local firm we have used before, their fitters are very good at working round furniture....

Its a bright sunny morning but bbbbbbbrrrrrrrrrrrr cold. Last night the stove in the sitting room got rather warm, I had to open the doors and a window to let some of the heat out, what a pity they did not fit a new tank to it when the old one leaked, it would have easily fired the heating..........I use not quite half a hod of fuel plus wood in the morning and a little more during the day, at night I just bank it up with wood and its still in when we get up, a bit of kindling and away she goes again.

Roast chicken and all the trimmings for supper, I am going to have to make a crumble in the cast iron casserole......
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.

    Morning all :D

It is the most beautiful morning here. It's sunny, not a cloud in the sky and not too chilly. I woke up at 8 and lazed in bed for an hour but the view from my window was so lovely - I am right next to the sea - I had to get up and go for a walk! I just pulled on jogging bottoms and a hoodie over my tshirt, and wore my toning trainers. I went for a 45min walk along the seafront and up the hill over to the lake (where I watched a heron for a bit), round the lake, back to the seafront and home. It was lovely and peaceful out. A few dog walkers and runners about, all of which said hello or good morning which was lovely. It was actually quite warm at times.

I'm now sitting on my balcony in the sun writing this :D, but it's getting a tad chilly so may move back insde shortly.

I've just had fried eggs on toast for breakfast, lunch will be jacket spud with leftover fajita topping on half and cheese and coleslaw on other. Dinner will either be mash, quorn sausages, peas and gravy or roast potatoes, tofu, peas and gravy. I can't decide yet!

I need to do a mammoth clean/tidy/sort out today so if I'm posting on here please tell me off! I'll show online though as I never logout!!

NPM - the spicy scrambled eggs sound yummy, I'll maybe try them tomorrow.
Halight - nice to see you posting, glad all is well
Molly41 - Pancake Day is my favourite day of the year, but I'm missing out this year as my nan, whose house I normally go to for them, is off to Australia on Tues, and I'll be in Somerset getting ready for my friend's wedding which is on Weds.
angeltreats - awww your hubby sounds lovely! welcome!

I'd forgotten it was valentine's day until I read this thread! I'm single and honestly am not bothered by it this year, which is good!

    Have a lovely day all

Morning all - and Happy Valentine's Day. :happyhearYou're all great! :D

csarina - oh my word, how tragic.

Well, it's day 2 of half term and I've come down with a sore throat which makes it feel as if I'm swallowing sandpaper all the time!

DH and I do celebrate Valentine's Day as we've officially been "together" for 7 years today... amazing what a bottle of wine did all those years ago. ;) We only exchange cards though, especially as we need to still buy curtains, carpets (eventually) etc for the new house. Fingers crossed that this time next week we'll have moved in....

Right, I suppose that I'd better have a shower and then I've got a long list of things to do. :(

Soup for lunch, then we're going out for a meal at Pizza Express later - after having watched the rugby! :D

Morning everyone, I haven't posted before in the daily thread but just had to come and share the lovely thing DH did for me for valentine's day!

Instead of spending money on a card, he bought me a set of red silicon muffin cases (which he knew I'd been wanting), and waited till I'd gone to bed last night, found my favourite muffin recipe book and stayed up very late making a batch of buttermilk muffins in the new cases as a surprise for my breakfast this morning!

If you knew my husband you'd realise what a nice thing to do this was because he's a very reluctant cook, frets over everything and is terrified of getting it wrong, but they turned out lovely and I was very chuffed.

What a lovely thing for your husband to do, angeltreats :)

we don't celebrate today but did share a box of choccies last night - bought half price and stashed away:)

    plans today

have a good clean - done a fair bit already
    2 loads of washing
    1 load of ironing
clean windows downstairs - sunlight showing up all the grime!

thats the main stuff for now. DS1 visiting later so his dad can finish working on his car before the MOT on Wednesday.I'm praying it will pass as none of us can afford to spend anymore on it and he needs it for work.

The sponge I made yesterday was delicious - I just love baking but try and not do it too much as I'm always trying to keep my weight down(lost 2 stone and have kept it off for 2 years) but I feel the need for some nice cake atm:)

hope you're all having a nice day x

PP - I tired to PM you the recipe but your box is full so I'll post it here!

    Lemon Drizzle Cake

    2 eggs
    rind of 1 lemon
    6oz caster sugar
    6oz marg
    6oz SR flour

    topping
    4oz caster sugar
    juice of 1 lemon

mix it all together in one bowl

cook in a lined loaf tin for about 40 mins on 180C or until cooked

meanwhile place the topping in a bowl somewhere warm while the cake is cooking then !!!!! the cake when its cooked and pour the topping over so it sinks into the cake while the cake is still warm.

its really easy and has never failed me!:)

    hope you enjoy it!

Morning,& Happy Valentines Day to those who celebrate .We did before we were married, and perhaps for a bit after but not these days.

It was lovely earlier on,but seems to have gone a bit dull now.We are having Creole chicken casserole for tea that is from the freezer-I'm trying to use a bit of stuff up as I cant get anything else in the chest freezer.I did an inventory of the small kitchen freezer the other day,and do have some space in there.I need to put the bm on in a bit,I've not had it on all week, again been using up frozen.

There is a piece in the Mail today about using cider vinegar/honey for aches and pains, arthritis etc,and Dh wants me to get some as his neck is giving him gyp again.I've got to admit my dear Gran had this every morning from being about 50,for 'rheumatics',she lived till she was 90,and swore by it.She used to buy her honey in bulk through the post,no online shops then :).
Halight -thanks.Glad to see youre OK though, and the tumour only growing slowly, and hopefully not giving you too much pain.Take care.
Csarina, sorry to hear about the bad news.Glad you are enjoying your woodburner,we love ours and would really miss it if we ever do sell this house.I dried DS trainers, two jumpers that couldnt be TD,and 2 really heavy towels in front on a maiden, and had a smile to myself as thtas what Mum & Gran used to do.

A lazy day planned,& watching our team in action on telly.Hope everyone has a lovely day.x

    Morning all.

    Martyn is home!!!! :j:j:j

He came home yesterday tea-time, had a go of his new stair lift then cried when he saw his bed, :o I think that's what he's looked forward to the most, a comfy bed. He had a fish and a few chips from the chippy as a treat then promptly fell asleep for 2 hours.

He's very weak and his stomach hurts both from the operation and the trauma it's been through so he needs help getting around and turning in bed etc. He's feeling a bit down because he's so helpless and feels exhausted doing the smallest thing but we're just grateful that he's home. His strength will improve slowly bit by bit so we're just going to take things as they come.

I want to say thank you again for all the support you've given me, it's really helped me to get through these last few weeks.

I've got a load in the washer with all his things from hospital (why does everything have a certain smell about it when you've been in hospital?) and I've got a gammon joint to cook for tea, I think we'll have it with mash & cauliflower cheese, but other than that I don't think I'll be doing much other than look after Martyn.

Brief Encounter is on telly this afternoon so I might watch that while Martyn watches the rugby and football or has a nap, I love that film although DD will mock because it's in black & white. :p

Hope you all have a good day and hugs to all that need them.
