OS Daily Thread - Valentines Day

Afternoon everyone
Happy Valentines Day.
Had a lovely surprise this morning, had a lovely bouquet of roses delivered from my oh, as he is not with me this weekend, he thought he would surprise me. He is with me next weekend so we will celebrate then with a home cooked meal.
My valentines dinner is just for me so I will not be slogging in the kitchen and will probably just have an omlette with a glass of wine:D. Lunch is ham sandwiches and a bannana. Have to take a bra back to m&s today as it was put on the wrong sized hanger and when I tried it on it was rather baggy to say the least.
Have hoovered all floors downstairs, just need to mop again. wm on too. House is tidy as only me here this weekend, it is very quiet though, but will soon be remided when ds2 comes back this evening.
Molly - I too love pancake day, usually end up making pancakes for the rest of the week though.
Pipkin - Glad you are feeling a little better.
NPM - :rotfl: amaryllis plant.
Angeltreats - welcome, That is a lovely romantic gesture by your dh.
csarina - (( hugs)) to you and your friend.
Taplady - The lemon drizzle cake sound yummy, may try that this week. Hope you go on ok wit your ds car.
Anguk - great news about Martyn being home.
Pennypincher -hope you get your stair lift sorted soon.
Enjoy the rest of your day. Hugs to anyone that needs/wants one. Take Care.

Why oh why do Amazon insist on emailing me with new cookery books I may like:o:cool:
Ladyshopper its not your kidneys is it? are you weeing ok?( been a nurse faaaar too long:rotfl::o)0 -
NPM & Bargainbird - no need to send out the search party. I did indeed have a lie in :j

Popped out this morning after I dragged myself out of bed at 9 o'clock - had to pick up a fairy outfit that I'd won on Freegle
Called at Mr S on the way back. Bought some fresh tagliatelli for our tea tonight. Going to do bacon and chicken in garlic tomato sauce with the pasta. Picked up 3 bottled of wine for £10 although I reckon after a couple of glasses we'll be asleep on the sofa like a couple of old farts :rotfl:
Doesn't feel very romantic today - just a normal day with the kids
Be nice to have a quiet night after they've gone to bed but by that point we'll be shattered
Anyway got lots of washing to get through so not much OS other than that really.
NPM - :rotfl: @ the willy plant. Romance is a wonderful thing. Resist the cook books, resist
anguk - How lovely that your H is home
Best place for him to recover. Be a slow process - how sweet that he cried when he saw his bed. You just can't beat it xx
flutterby - that sounds like my idea way to start the morning. Fabulous!
csarina - hugs to you and your friend. How tragic xx
I am sure there are people I've missed so apologies for the oversight. I can't remember everything and I haven't got pen and paper to hand to write it all down.
Anyway seeing as it's Valentines Day I just want to send lots of :heartpuls to those of you who've lost their partners, no longer with someone or just happy being single
Have a great Sunday OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

Good afternoon everyone, and to those lucky enough to have one I hope you are taking good care of your Valentines and spoiling them.Today would have been my 47th wedding anniversary, so its a bit of a bittersweet day for me
My late OH always made a special fuss as he was a great romantic ( a bit of a big old softie really) I still have all the cards he gave me, and although we never quite made our Ruby wedding I still can remember as though it was yesterday our wedding day .We were freezing cold as the winter weather was awful in 1963 (not much change there then )I was a skinny size eight (huge change there;)) and we were very broke, and along with my brother and sis-in-law we managed to scrape up enough for steak and chips for the four of us, it cost £9.00, almost a weeks wages back then. My brother had borrowed a camera from his Pa-in-law to take some photos, but forgot to check if there was any film in it.There I was an a very short matching mini dress and coat, on probably the coldest day of the year, standing on the steps of the registery office. My knees were blue with cold and were knocking . I had known him for 43 days and everyone said I was nuts. But I knew he was the one for me, and it was the best thing I ever did in my life (apart from having my two daughters).
So if you are still lucky enough to have a special someone in your life ,even if you don't believe in the 'commercial mush' of Valentines day, give them a hug and tell them how much they mean to you, you may be suprised at their reaction, as everyone likes to be told how great they are at times.
Anguk great news about you husband, I bet you are thrilled to bits.
I have been having a bit of a lazy day today, catching up on some reading and just generally pottering around.I'm off to my youngest DDs later ,hopefully the boys will be feeling a bit brighter today.
Tonight on BBC1 @ 10.55.p.m. there is a very good film 'Rabbit-proof Fence' if you've not seen it, its worth watching.I have seen it before but its so good I will watch it again.Right time I went and got the coffee pot on for a shot of caffeine.have a great day everyone and wrap up warm if you are going out,its still a bit on the nippy side

Have got to go back to Mothercare today to get a tag taken off DGD gorg new coat, am wondering whether to ask for petrol money for their negligence:rotfl:
I had same problem with a dress I bought from Monsoon recently. The store itself didn't do anything when I took dress back, and their attitude was pretty awful. So I emailed their customer services to complain cos it really annoyed me. And they sent me a £5 gift voucher for the 'inconvenience'.
Ive somehow not managed to get much done yet! I have sorted laundry and tidied round, made lunch, and slightly distracted myself by caramelising some onions to make a tart later! But I'm off to hoover now

I bought a me to you 13th teddy bear for DD, and didn't notice until she opened the gift bag, that the security dye tag is still on there.
I will take it back when I'm next in town, with the receipt, so they can take it off and not think I pinched it :eek:There is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you - Beatrix Potter0 -

NPM - My bladder is weak at the best of times, so no abnormal weeing going on!! No other symptons. Was a bit uncomfortable driving, as sore area was touching seat in car and that hurt a bit. Not agonising pain or anything, but very weird.0 -
*hugs* to everyone that needs it today and hello to everyone else
I got my flowers for Valentine's yesterday which were lovely- never been bought flowers before so I'm very happy. Not doing much today, bit of uni work whilst watching the rugby. Planning on starting to brew beer later which will be great followed by a steak with peppercorn sauce, hm chips and cheesy leeks.
Hope everyone has a lovely day today.December GC £23.43/120 :T

I didn't get anything either but then my OH has a good excuse for not getting to the shops.Am I the only woman (in a relationship) in the Universe, who did not get absolutely ANYTHING no flowers no chocolate no tacky knickers, absolutely sweet FA for Valentine's day? Am feeling very sad and despondent!
Just having him home is more than I could have dreamed of a couple of weeks ago.
Saying that we never normally bother anyway, maybe just exchange cards, why just be romantic or show your OH you love them on one specific day?Dum Spiro Spero0
