I have read the complete thread from beginning to end, I note also that you use a laptop for your internet and workplace.
Now has your laptop been left unattended or anybody asked you to plug in a usb memory stick, (or any other removable media) . The reason I ask this is because there a various security tools that can be used for nefarious activities. There is one in particular that is common, called "usb switchblade", and it will steal passwords in a few seconds and leave no trace or evidence on your computer.
I hope this info is usefull to yourself and others0 -

You said malwarebytes was clean, did you update it first before running it?
yup, I did thanks - that was easy to update.I have trouble reading your chat log with the help operator, doesn't seem to make much sense. Just use the latest version of HJT.
yeah, sorry I was copying and pasting it on here whilst talking to them, it is not very clear at all - bolded bits are them, other bits are me...
Struggling to work out how to update hijackthis tho... found an updater button, but it just takes me to their site where it looks like I am dowloading the whole thing again..0 -

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malicious sites can use to exploit and infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update:
- Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) Version 6 and save it to your desktop.
- Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Environment (JRE)6 Update 18...allows end-users to run Java applications".
- Click the "Download" button to the right.
- Select your Plattform: "Windows".
- Select your Language: "English".
- Read the License Agreement, and then check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
- Click Continue and the page will refresh.
- Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation and save the file to your desktop.
- Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
- Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove Programs and remove all older versions of Java.
- Check (highlight) any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
- Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
- Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
- Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
- Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u6-windows-i586-p-s.exe to install the newest version.

I have trouble reading your chat log with the help operator, doesn't seem to make much sense.
The operator is trying to remove the blame from Ebay for foreign correspondent account's being hacked.
Ebay have refused to make it clear:
1. Whether the account was accessed from FC laptop
2. Whether the problem was on their side
Their excuse is "security" reasons.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0 -

He now knows a strong password is the only thing necessary to secure a wireless router. If he already knew this and had done it he knows he can rule out his router as an access point from outside his network. Others reading the thread who were unaware of the issues involved will be able to make up their minds from the contrasting views and some research of their own.0
