Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)

    Please run COMBOFIX
    http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
    Shut down your anti virus
Follow the simple instructions it gives
Post the COMPLETE log it creates here (Split into sections if need be)

If it comes up with a RENAMING error then RIGHT click the exe file and RENAME and call it QWERTY (Making the complete file name 'QWERTY.exe') Or SAVE as 'QWERTY' on download

Now if everyone can stop arguing over pedantic sh*te ~ perhaps we could get on with helping the OP?

Translation: I introduced the topic and there was some opposition to a couple of things I said. I have no strong counterarguments to give so would rather everyone shut up about this and let me continue to offer suboptimal advice.

where do I find my own IP address to check it, if they do give me the address the account was accessed from?

It depends if you have a dynamic IP address or static.

Dynamic means it is only temporary and changes everytime you log on/off the internet.

Static is a fixed IP address.

You will need to check your broadband user account and see if it tells you which you use.

  • this is not it, but it is similar - flidjer756

Not particularly susceptible to pure guessing. If your name was Frances Lidjer someone known to you might guess the first part. The 7, 5 and 6 are much harder but become more possible if your password was exposed to the view (intentionally or not) of a third party.

The present one can be found by accessing your router. Whatever is the info page should have it.

You've done it again! The difference between "MAC filtering is a top notch security technique" and the same statement with a "not" in it is not pedantic crap but something which requires technical examination. Thousands will benefit from the discussion.

WEP? Who mentioned WEP? Am I in the right thread?
